• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Back Rest

Thinking about getting a back rest for my 09. I know I need to buy that expensive plate to mount it to.
My questions are does it work well for a passenger?
It can be moved for myself as a single driver as well right?
And are there any cheaper aftermarket options so I would not have to buy the mounting plate from BRP?

The BRP Sport Rack/Backest combo works well for a passenger. It cannot be moved to help the driver. There are aftermarket options available from KewlMetal and others. Some riders have also added topcases as an alternate. To get a backrest that can be moved to accomodate either the passenger or the rider, you will probably have to purchase a Corbin seat. There are other rider backrests available, but I'm not aware of any other than the Corbin that can be mounted in either location. Somebody will probably tell me I am wrong, though.

backrest

I have a backrest mount that I never used. It is similiar to a small sissy bar with a pad, however I never purchased a pad, U would need to find a pad of your choice to fit it. I think it is a kwewmetal brand, if interested I could dig it up and send u the make and model. Also have a new bracket plate mount to attach a trunk. Would take $60 shipped each or both for $100 shipped.

I may be interested if you can get me some info on it so I can look at it online. Where are you in IL? Might be able to arrange a pick up.

Backrest essential if you want to carry a passenger. It has made life so much easier and I would definately reccomend buying one, whatever type you go for. The passenger is much more secure and not going left and right as you go around corners and more comfortable for both driver and passenger.

backrest

They are part # 16-12091B and 160-6267 by Road Krome

I am down by St Louis, but I will leave for chgo area at noon tomarrow and Wed be at Sched Aqurimum (however it is spelled) I am taking my 3 grandkids there for the day. I could bring them with me there, jst let me know. They sell for $100-119 each, but I got a deal on them but then got a better deal on the newest backrest out made by Road Krome, still cost $300 but was what the wife wanted....

I put the BRP Sport Rack and Backrest on the RS-S before I got 14. Makes a huge difference when you go 2 up. ANd the BRP Backrest comes off giving the RS-S a different look in the rear, which I happen to like!

Which ever way you decide to go, a backrest for the passenger is the stuff! I believe Scotty is right though; Only Corbin makes the seat where you can get a backrest for passenger and rider. BRP also makes a comfort seat that might give some help for the rider's back side! But then you have to do something for the passenger. But it's only money, right?
