Back from Cowtown

Well happy to say I am home safe after the four day trip to get the oil changed on my spyder at Cowtown . Convincing the wife I had to travel round trip 1100 miles was no easy task, but assuring her they had the special oil and the loving touches her machine needed worked. She did remind me as she has for 52 years if I needed any R&R make sure she could do laundry as well…. As I arrived a day early for my appointment, I just ended up hanging out most of the day and discovered other folks were bringing spyder’s from all over the country. I needed to find out what was causing the people to go to all that expense to come to the little town of Cuba Mo and the boat dealer that works on spyders!! Saturday morning I parked my spyder at the service door and went inside, there Jimmy who knew my face from day before Had me sign a work order, and I asked him to do a few other things as I had my mad money with me (most the work wife can’t see ) he grunted and walked off. Amazing I thought how does he know which white spyder is mine????. I then wondered up to the front sales area to ponder the magic going on in the place, when a racket that sounded like bumble bees started and one by one spyders came thought the gate and parked, all kinds and colors, even the riders were colorful, pink hair pink boots, white hair, to match bikes I guess. About then someone appeared and said coffee, cookies, chocolate, cold water, help yourself. One by one folks were coming and getting chocolate chip cookies and coffee one of the gals made eye contact with me and came over to confess it was her second one, she had problem with just one, it was her third but whose counting. Then couple of the guys came over and introduced themselves, they said they were the Mo Gang, I asked where Larry and Curly was at ??. About a hour later one asked if I would like to go to lunch with them, told him I didn’t have a ride, no problem you can ride in the truck. So I got in the back of this old dodge all the while wondering if they knew I had my 1000 cash in my pocket, Cowtown seems to know things other dealers don’t know. Would they make me buy lunch for my MO crack or leave me stranded some place. In the end all was well they took me back and then in a flash they were gone. All left were four or five that were from other states like me.
Things I discovered on my trip
1. More dealers need to put out food it attracts people and birds of a feather flock together
2. The Mo Gang do have Larry And Curly and they like to eat
3. You can be a part of the Gang out of state, if you are willing to help others when in MO.
4. They get instructions by mental waves when eating the free food and coffee
5. Coming to Cowtown gives you a good feeling, you even thank them when they take your money
6. When riding freeway pulling a trailer at 80 MPH you can watch the gas gauge move
7. Can’t wait till my next oil change, maybe I can find out about the giant people who lived there you should see the big rocking chair they dug up somewhere.
8. You have to stop and disassemble your guns when you go thought Illinois.
9. Two days riding will change the color of your skin to match the 2012 limited color
10. If you could read this far and are not pulling your hair out because of my bad typing and grammmmer you need some of the clear water the mo gang had and didn’t share

You do have a great sense of humor, I'm afraid to ask if I'm Larry or Curly. Sure enjoyed talking with you and yes I am kinda parcel however I do think I hangout with a great group. Look forward to seeing you again. Actually Larry worked at Cowtown, Curly lives in AR. and comes around frequently, and some call me Mo for short and Len keeps threatening to get a picture of us together.

New franchise location ?

Man I can't stand all the wonderful things I keep hearing about Cowtown. I'm jealous , It has to be a magical place ....sort of like Disney World ??? And free food and other goodies to boot ?? Why can't they be closer ? I can't convince my wife I should ride there for an oil change or other work. If my dealer can't get my problems straightened out I just might have to ringy dingy them and make an appointment and make the ride over.I'm sure that if they would open up a dealership anywhere in Ohio they'd have as much business as they could handle. :yes:Some people have all the luck !!! Maybe one of these days I'll get to experience the pleasure of dealing with them.Guess there's always next summer since I wasn't able to make it this summer.

I wish

That we could have a place in the gallery for members to post a picture with real name and forum name, would be great for us old farts who
can't remember names very well.and some we only see once or twice a year....lets where in the $ell did I put the sumiter key

Great to meet you and glad you are safely home. By the way: we do share our water. :doorag:

Have fun / Ryde safe

It was a fun filled day and great meeting you. You might now hold the record for distance traveled for just an oil change!:firstplace:

Glad you got home ok and your fears of us Missourians where unfounded. Pray that you and your wife make some wonderful memories ryding down the road.

Cowtown is magic

Yes, you realized that Cowtown is magic. My husband Cuban Spyder and I live in Cuba and get to see the magic at Cowtown on a regular basis. People drive, yes, hundreds of miles to be assured of good treatment and service. We see their spyders parked at the motels as folks wait for their turn at Cowtown. If you remember, we came by your spyder at Super 8 and said hello on our way to dinner. Take the time to get off the highway and expire the town. Always get a photo of your bike in front of that big rocker. The store is fun too. They have apple pie moonshine samples there. You will find that people in Cuba love the spyders and riders. It's a spyder crazy town.

People keep in touch on Spyderlovers and when they see people are going to be at Cowtown, they "go for a ride" to Cowtown. That's when the fun begins when everyone hangs out, talks about and shows each other their mods, talks about rides they've been on or ones they are going to take. "Where'd you get that?" is an important question. And, yes, there is the free food. There are people who know each other who show up, but you usually meet someone new. And riders always try to convince the service department to squeeze in a little service that might not be scheduled. It probably drives them crazy.

You notice that there is a lot of free advice and information passed out to people who are looking at spyders or are picking up a new one. Len Damouth is running around like the crazy guy he is trying to check out new spyders, answer questions, and sell spyders to customers. Saturday was special because two women were picking up new spyders. I understand another spyder was sold Saturday too. Everyone thinks they are spyder reps and get in on the act. It probably drives Len crazy.

You are safe going to MOHick with people you don't know. Your money was safe too. I think the riders would be more likely to buy your lunch before they would take your money. Of course, we are always looking for a little extra money for mods. LOL. We are all mod crazy.

My advice is to come again. Maybe one day you will get a ride to MoHick in the Cowtown limousine. People who fly into St. Louis to come to Cuba to buy a spyder get met at the airport in the Cowtown limo. It's crazy.
Here are some photos.

Thanks MO GANG

I don't post much as I always seem to stir the the serious one's. you are a great Group of folks.
most folk take life way to serious, we all have stores to tell both good and some we don't tell until we have a few
then the truth will come out. I enjoyed the time learning, talking, joking, and telling tall tales. let no one ever take any of my post
at face value there is satire or laughter some where to be found. as to the magic at Cowtown I think I know what it is LOVE you can break
it down anyway you want, they are in business to make money, so is lamonster but in all the years knowing him he never asked me for a penny
we all enjoy being around honest, real, you get what you see, kind of people. so see you all soon somewhere, buzzard rock maybe, BBQ for sure
got to go now and check the water I got in Cuba, having trouble getting it to freeze.
