I am thinking this is getting way more technical than it needs to be. MPG is just a number. 100 or more variables can go into making the number. The basic formula of miles driven/# gallons used is affected by the above.
After owing a few spyders and driving almost 150,000 miles on them--the bottom line for me--the 990/998's get about 29 - 31. The 1330 gets about 39 - 41. I have done a little better, and a little worse from time to time--but that is my average over 10 years.
For me--rounding to 1 decimal (5.34 = 5.3 for gallons) and (150.57 = 151 for miles) is good enough. I am not going to sweat the small stuff. Life to short and many more miles to drive. Don't have to worry about the small stuff.
Happy Monday and lets go riding.
