• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Automatic Volume Compensation

There is not much better than the Goldwing audio system. In all fairness, though, it is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. The Wing is a lot quieter behind the fairing than the Spyder. Different aerodynamics, and a different distance to the windshield. I don't think anything will give decent audio quality on a Spyder (or many other motorcycles) but a system with helmet speakers. JMHO

Scotty, I ride with FF helmets on both the Spyder and Gold Wing. My Spyder headset is BRP and the Wing is Chatterbox. I am trying to compare apples to apples. As said earlier, I generally ride sweep and my HD buddy rides lead. Alternate the Wing and Spyder and the Wing CB is much stronger...he hears me at greater distances when I am on the Wing....this is fact and we have tested this several times. I realize this is on our two machines and others will differ.

One of group just bought a RT-S and had the dealer install a CB. Last Saturday he was in the middle of fourteen of us, I was sweep and my the HD was leading. I was on my Spyder and could talk and hear my HD buddy quite clearly, but not my Spyder buddy very well who was closer. Ha ha go figure... I think his needs a little tuning and will help him tomorrow.

Hey, Scotty, I have Cobras on my Wing so it ain't real quite...but the only thing that sounds better is a Boss Hoss with glas packs....ha ha right Lamont?

I change my AVC to high and it made a huge difference. I can hear my Spyder radio and XM much clearer and at 75 mph. I also have turn on my Wing. My CB seemed to work better but I don't think the AVC works with the CB...?? Could be my imagination. Worked with my buddy and his CB is doing better...he got a "wind sock" for his mic and that helped a great deal...WOW, another hot day....

My AVC worked for the first two weeks. Haven't heard it work since...

I am not a whiz at this AVC thing, but my truck volume increases as my speed increases...the same with my RT. The only way I know it is "working" is that I can hear my Spyder radios in my helmet headset better now at the higher speeds, where I could not before. The volume increases along with my speed...I think this is how AVC us supposed to work... JMHO

Are you saying that your volume no longer increases as you speed does? Hmmmm

On my 2011 Limited, there is a noticeable jump in the volume at about 40 MPH. Other than that jump, it does seem to get louder the faster I go. Easily heard at 70 to 75 MPH on the highway.

In the audio sub-menu, try setting it to "SMALL SPEAKERS"

We thought much the same as most here until we tried this adjustment & now, I think Teddy is sorry that we found this. I usually wear ear-plugs (Teddy refuses) & have the "AVC" set to high & the system sucked until I found the "SMALL SPEAKER" setting. Now, we cruise to tunes all the time & are loving it. Even when Ryding with other Spyders (usually audio-less RS's) they've commented how well they could here our system at stop signs/lights & it made them wish they had one on their Spyders. Not that it's perfect, but for stock, out of the box, it's not all that bad, IMHO.

Dave--- I laugh so much when I read your posts:roflblack::roflblack:. I just read this one and Bobbie, my bride that you've met who is the LPC (licensed professional counselor) says that you suffer from anthropomorphism :yikes:. HA!!! I wouldn't call it 'suffer' at all! I LOVE it (as you know)!!!:2thumbs:

And on the topic.... I'll highly suggest that if you run the AVC with a headset that you keep it on a low or off setting. Set the level where when you are stopped that it is 'slightly' loud for you and with the lower AVC setting, you'll find it very easy to hear at high speeds (yes even the 85+ category). With the speakers very near your ears, and you'll likely find that a level audio level (huh?) is more pleasing.

Order Up: One large crow sandwich for me.

I have made a few disparaging remarks about the radio on my RTS--including calling it junk.

I finally went into the computer and played with the fader, the volume adjustment settings, the bass and treble settings--everything I could find.

I can now hear the radio at speeds up to 70 mph, the words are clearer and I can even tell what songs are playing. At lower speeds--guess what--it's a radio.

The downside: Linda is now singing in my ear through the intercom when the radio is on.

I am, glad you guys mentioned this. I had my audio set up nicely, but forgot to enter the settings again after they replaced my gauge cluster. This served as a good reminder. The fader and AVC were not set right (for my taste) from the factory. The only problem is that I will have to remember to adjust it again after I get my fourth cluster tomorrow. I hope I can remember. You know how forgetful us old folks can get. :D
