automatic transmission upshifting on it's own

It is possible you are mistaking what I call a power downshift for an upshift. The SE tranny will downshift when it senses it needs to in different situations, not just slowing to a stop. Sometimes when the rpm is too low and you give it gas, it will downshift by itself. It kinda feels like a passing gear. It sometimes takes you by surprise.

Well you are the first to say you have the same problem.

Here is were it is a SAFETY issue. You are in the middle of a fast turn, close to the envelope of the spyder's capability, the machine upshifts causing you to lose the line your on and cross over the center line or go off the pavement.

This is just one bike... it doesn't do it all of the time, and the cause is as-yet unknown.

We just do not ride it hard in the corners now. Eventually we will figure it out.
