There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Authenticity Check on my '09' Phantom

I recently purchased an 09 spyder phantom gs limited edition. Supposedly, there were only 500 produced. My vin number ends in 621 and when I inquired, I was told that there were 650 actually packaged. Can anyone vouch for this?

It doesn't matter what the VIN says

Why BRP would put out "Limited Edition Phantoms" and then sell all the parts so anyone can buy the same stuff and put on their bikes is beyond me. I'm glad they did though, because I have all of the Phantom parts and am putting them on my bike. I wanted an SE5, but I wanted the phantom kit, so now I have it.

This question comes up every so often. The VIN will not tell you anything. Here is a link to one of the threads that discussed the Phantom classification.

Woah! My :spyder2: is a Phantom. Got out the title and in the 'Model' area is says 'SPY'.

Hmmm...I look over the other paperwork and the model is called at different times 'A19N', 'SPY' and 'Phantom'. The stock number is 418.

Don't care at this point about the finer details of the :spyder2:name. All I know is she looks great and gets me where I want to go with a smile on my face.

Various states designate the models of vehicles differently, depending on how their computers were programmed. The title designation means nothing. BRP designated the model of the Phantom as A19N. This will be shown on the VIN# tag on the right side of the swingarm. If it shows any other model designation, it is a conversion. Each model has sequential digits that start at 000001, so an A19N model with S/N 000621 would be the 621st Phantom produced.

Thanks Scotty!

Looked on the swingarm and saw model A19N and 000418 at the bottom of the plate.
Guess the important info is tattooed on the :spyder2:.

You da Man...:2thumbs:

This was on here somewhere before. I would have given credit where credit is due, but I couldn't find the darned thread. If you don't think I am pretty much useless, ask my wife! :roflblack:

probably true . . . .

. . . . . but then we are not married to you. I guess we get all the good stuff and poor Nancy gets what is leftover. :roflblack:

I thought there were still some minor differences between the actual 'Phantoms' and the 'Conversions' ??:dontknow:

No difference from what I understand

I looked it up and found there were only parts added to the spyder by the dealers. I could give you a list of them all as I have bought them all. Mine is different though because it's an SE5 and I don't have them all on yet. The VIN# might be the only difference. I spent a lot of time looking it up, but I'm no expert.

Depends a lot on when the conversion was done and how far they went with it. Many knock-offs did not have the same emblems, the seat cover, or the rear seat cowl, among other things.

The a19n designation is it. I have heard many different stories about how many there are. Seems like A LOT but who really cares I love mine and bought it becasue i liked the way it looked best and had a few items i would have bought anyway for about the same price. IE the dealer made me a decent deal on it too.

The Phantom was presented to dealers for the purpose of being put into demo service. BRP wanted to show case accessories available. They knew dealers wouldn't pull all the accessories off the shelf to put on the Spyder.
Whatever the case it looks darn good.
