• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Audio.......what am I doing wrong?

Have the 2011 RT Limited. I can't seem to get the audio adjusted correctly on the Spyder. When the radio is on, its suppose to reduce the sound when the engine is slowing down. For some reason it stopped doing it and no matter how many times I set it, I can't get it to do right. What am I doing wrong?

Spyder Audio

My 2011 RT Limited lost all audio to the driver's headset except for an occassional brief return. After nine weeks ( three separate trips)of trouble shooting and several conponent changes my dealer finally went to the audio system manufacturer which resulted in a communications wiring harness change out. Got a couple upgrades along with the new wiring harness---Keep after your dealer-- its under waranty!

In your audio settings, you will see a selection for speed compensation. You can set any of several levels. BTW, the compensation makes it louder at higher speeds, it has nothing directly to do with the engine rpm.

Now I get it. I do know how to make it louder but when I slow down or stop the radio keeps blaring and does not reduce the noise level as it should.

The effect is pretty subtle, IMO. The idea is that you set the volume you want at rest or slow speed, and that the audio will get louder as you ride, so that you can still hear it without adjustments. This works welll for me when the music is in my helmet, but I still have to fiddle with the volume control when entering a town, if I am just using the speakers. I suppose if I didn't mind waking the neighbors, I wouldn't bother.

When it's set AND functioning correctly, it's actually pretty good at doing its job... If you have made the adjustments to the audio settings and it appears that nothing is happening then perhaps it's time for a tirp to the dealer... :gaah:

Tried all the suggestions and "nothing". Radio works but not like its designed to do. I guess I'll call the dealer and see "what Up?" Bummer.......:cus: When I find out, I'll let everyone know.

settings

Instructions in manual are confusing. My settings are : medium and under helmet section..... mute . Mine works fine on those settings but any others and it's screwed up. Now if they could just figure out why my radio sometimes goes to full blast and I have to use the raise button to mute it I'd be happy. Dealer thinks they'll just change out the cluster and the problem will be solved even though it's worked correctly every time they look at it. I rode 30 miles with it blaring in my ears just so they could see it and as soon as the tech hit lower it worked. With all the problems that seem to happen every time something is changed I think I may just live with it until it totally won't lower and stays broken and then they can trouble shoot it.It's a problem that shouldn't be there considering the cost of the bike but I can live with it. It worked ( at least I think ) until they installed my CB.

Update on audio problem

Took my spyder to the dealer today. The answer I got was it needed a software update but if you really want to know the truth, I think I just had a finger failure. Hell, it happens! At any rate, the radio is working just fine now and I actually got to talk with the mechanic instead of "whoever". It all worked out fine.:banghead:
