Audio question

Not sure how to ask this w/o writing a book. At present my 2016 F3 LTD Triple Black is being built at the dealership. When I ask this question I get less than adequate answers. Simply stated, i'm trying to find out if my Spyder's built-in audio system is CAPABLE of Bluetooth streaming, along with a Garmin 590 and my smartphone, to Bluetooth capable helmets. I'm under the impression that the touring RT Spyders are capable with an added Can Am Bluetooth dongle installed. Would this setup be the same for my new bike? When it comes to these Spyders I've already learned NOT to assume anything. :gaah:ray::dontknow:

In short....Yes. You can achieve this with products from Sena (SHM10 and SM10 for example). If you go that route there is a link that tells you how to pair for optimal use (see below)

Yes, it allows you to play audio from your smartphone thru a Bluetooth connection and play thru the bikes audio system (which sucks), or play the audio thru a Bluetooth headset such as the Sena. This is only accomplished thru the Zumo, as the bikes audio connections are via 1/8" stereo jack or USB in 'glove box'......not Bluetooth.

I want to do the reverse of what you wrote unless I misunderstand you. Stream audio/Garmin/cellphone thru the bikes audio system via Bluetooth to the helmets bluetooth. You do not need a Garmin GPS to do BT.

I don't know about the F3 that much but any audio out jack from whatever audio system you have can go BT.
If you don't have an audio system, your phone can stream audio to your BT helmet with no trouble... You do not need a GPS in the middle which doing so actually is BAD....

I think I understand your question

There a far more individuals here that know the ins and outs of Bluetooth, but if I am understanding your question it all comes down to whether or not the F3 stereo has an audio out? Basically Bluetooth is nothing more than a "language" that different device can use to talk with each other wirelessly. Hopefully someone more versed in the audio makeup of you model can chime in. If it has an audio out then you are all set.

Sending device and receiving device both have to have Bluetooth capability. Since the BRP radio is not "Bluetooth" its audio out it will not "connect" and thus go no where. In the GPS example above the Garmin is receiving the Bluetooth audio out from cell phone/Ipod/etc. and then "sending" it to the BRP radio via direct connection (audio plug or USB). This allows you to play a Bluetooth device through the BRP speakers.

For a RT you just add the dongle. For a F3 like you are asking about I am not sure. The radio is the same. So the expensive kit from BRP should work but you will be on your own to figure out how to install it and where. Cheaper option is to get the kit from Motorcycle Dave and figure out how to install it. Both options should gives you radio to 2 BT helmets.

The F3 does not have rear speakers so those outputs are available to feed a cheap BT transmitter. Even more head scratching on that option.

I think you will be the first to do this.

Absolutely correct billybovine. That was my real question . . . since I do not see an AUDIO OUT mentioned in the F3 LTD manual, does it have one and then, if yes, would I be correct in assuming i'd use the dongle. I don't have the bike yet, coming in 2 weeks.

So I did some research this morning. You are correct the F3 does not give you an audio out. But the RT or ST does not either. The kit from BRP or motorcycle Dave comes with a harness that plugs into the RDO2 port of the radio. By the way the harness from motorcycle is made by finless. If you by from another source there will be no harness to connect to. That is what gives you the audio out and power for the Sena SM10 BT dongle. Since the radio for the 2016 F3 and RT are the same unit. The harness should plug right into the unused RDO2 port on the F3 radio.

So I don't know what your skill level is or if you want to tackle this project. The SM10 is mounted in the front trunk if you use the BRP kit for RT and ST. The rear trunk with finless's harness. Neither are options for the F3 I think. But it needs to be mounted in an accessible location, so it can be turned on and off.

Please explain how the Zumo 590 is going to BT the Spyder radio to his helmet as he asked. Not possible as far as I know. There is no audio output from the radio to the Zumo. Only from the Zumo to the radio.
