Okay i want to know if anyone else hears an audible click noise form the front brakes when braking from speed usually near the end of the braking process ie just as your coming to a stop sign but hte bike is still rolling. i hear this often but dont seem to have any "problems" at all. Just curious what it might be at this point. it almost sounds like the pads are sticking but they are clearly being applied to the rotor at the time. maybe it has somethign to do with the ABS system. Anyone know the skivy?

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have the same thing, I notice it when I reverse and stop, then on my 1st stop going forward. My tech can't hear it... but then he's old & going deaf.

If this is a soft clicking sound, it is probably the cooling holes in the rotor passing the brake pad. Most often heard on machines with stock mufflers and large windshields. It is often amplified by buildup of brake dust on the pads and calipers. Just an educated guess, mind you. Hard to diagnose without actually hearing it. What is a clicking sound to some is a swishing sound to others.

This one I might worry about. Could be something loose in the front end. Could also be nothing important, like a loose cooonector hitting against the bodywork, or something in the trunk flopping forward. I would probably have my dealer give me his opinion.

I've got the clicks....
I've got the clicks as well. Not sure where I picked them up at.... lol...Anyway, I did not have the clicking noise when I first bought the Spyder but after I got my brake update from BRP because of squeeky brakes, I have had the clicks when braking.

no I would defintely say it is brake related as its only heard when acuating the brake. I may do a little magnifying glass looking this weekend just to see what may be causing it. Again I am not overly concerned about it alls seems to be working fine. Also let me say here too that a dealer is not usually an option for me becasue it is so far away but to be honest with you the dealer I bought it from will never touch my bike unless it is interior motor related under warranty and even then Ill have to think about it. While I know there are good dealers out there and there are a few within 100 miles or so from me I havent touched base with, any dealership that lets me drive away with the belt tension set the way it was on mine combined with almost zero antifreeze in the resevoir etc is not touching my bike again. Theres more to the story but I dont need to rehash it here and it appears i am not alone in finding a dealership that clearly isnt capable/qualified to properly work on these bikes.
also note the bike has to be moving. it does not do it when I am at a stop and depress the brake. it is one click not a series or chatter just "click". i hear it stronger from the left side than the right usually but sometimes it comes from both front wheels. At first i thought it might be shock related but found that it must be brake related as it only occurs when the brake is depressed.

It could still be the shocks. When you brake, they do react. Check to make sure they are on tight. If I remember correctly - iffy thing that - they have a rubber gasket/washer at the connecting points - if that is degraded or missing, it might be what 'clicks' if they move.

ill take a look at it but no click if I push down on the front of the bike at a stop etc. i even tried pushing the bike forward from bhind to simulate braking..no click.. Ill play around with and look it over tomorrow morning and report if I find anything. thanks for all the suggestions everyone!!!

I have the same noise. also sounds like coming from the left front brake side. Spyder brakes fine. didn't notice it until about 1200 miles.As long as everything is working ok, not too worried. Maybe someone will figure it out?!:dontknow:

I had the same clicking, but it went away with no worries after. just drive it my friend.
low speed ABS activation
Well I lifted the bike today and could not duplicate the click. But after talking to some pople in the know about ABS brakes they felt it may be whats called a "low speed ABS activation" and it is often caused by bad connections to the speed sensors either due to corrosion or water infiltration. I have not got a code on the bike or anything but plan to check all the connections tommorrow and make sure they are all tight etc. Also they said I shoudl defintely check the air gap between the sensor and the plate. Your bike comes wiht a tool specificlaly for this and can be done quite easily. They also said I should make sure both the sensor and the plate are clean and free of any contaminents espcially metal shaving and brake dust etc.

It is been quite a while since I have paid attention to it, but it clicked while stopping to almost a stand-still (in 1st. or reverse) at slow speed.
For a moment I thought I had inadvertently dropped one of my metric sockets while doing some mods, that it had lodged somewhere in the lower pans, and was rolling around when riding the SE5.
While doing the coils' grounding trick, taking advantage of having much of the Tupperware removed on the left side, I performed a throughout search and could not find the 'missing socket', nor anything that might have been loose or causing the noise. :dontknow:
Will start paying attention to it again, to see if it is still there...

Well ok I too the whole wheel down to the hub couldnt find anything. i took some pictures of it, cleaned the sensor, checked the sensor clearence with a feeler gauge as the fronts are a differnet setting than the rear per the manual. I checked and cleaned the sensor plate and rotor. CHecked the brake pads. Rreassembled and torqued all settings per the manaul. While i had teh bike up i adjusted the shocks up a notch becasue I have been wanting to do that. Started up the bike, drove it aorund, bith th eclick and the squeal i have been experincing...gone. Drove 20 miles to work...still no click or squeal:dontknow:. I wouldnt be surprised if one or both come back eventually. I sprayed down the shock with BRP lube as per the manaul when adjusting the shocks. maybe some got on the rotor and made a difference. I have lots of therioes about what could have casued the noises. Too inlcude improper or loosend bolts on either the brake caliper or the wheels themselves. What you might do folks is lossen off your lug nuts then readjust to proper torque settings (77ft lbs I think it was but check for sure).
