• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

AUDIBLE "BEEP" FOR SIGNAL LIGHTS ??

Hi Gang. Has anyone found or built a simple and easy to install beeper to tell me my signal light is flashing ? THX

i did this when i had my vulcan. you can find on line a 12 volt beeper something like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/PWC-Jet-Ski...zer-/221770451077?hash=item33a28c8885&vxp=mtr and install it in the signal circuit. also what bike do you have, you should always mention what you have so people know the bike and what options you have for any work you want to do. you can add the bike type in your signature

John,
Since I have no knowledge of electronics (Other than keep your tongue out of the toaster...), do you need to wire one of those into each turnsignal circuit, or does one of them cover both sides of the bike?
(I was thinking that it'd be easy to hide one up by the connections that run out to each of the front turnsignals...)

I installed one for the front left & another for the front right. After a while I removed them as the noise bugged me & I'm sure those around me at a red light when I was waiting to turn. I replaced them with green LEDs mounted in tiny holes on the dash.

As I see it..!!

you need to wire it into the flasher connection to only use one. Depending on what sound you get you may not like it. I also went with outrigger lights which work well for me. They doself cancel quite well the only time is on lane change....

these just tap into the signals

bob when i had my vulcan i remember only having one buzzer, but i don't really remember exactly how i wired it. but you could go with one in each mirror housing. i also remember covering the buzzer with tape because the noise got to me also. i would think a small led strip on the mirror would be a good was to go so you can see it better
does all models of the spyder have self canceling turn signals ???

Hi cuznjohn,

Re: does all models of the spyder have self canceling turn signals ???

I have an '08 and it does. I doubt that they would remove that feature on subsequent models.

I just did a quick search of 2014 to 2008 operating manuals and all Spyders are equipped with turn signals that are self cancelling at about 30 seconds. So if you don't mind the wait there doesn't seem to be a need to "be reminded" that the signal is on. The wording in the 2014 manual (page 21) reads:
The turn signal button turns off automatically after a normal turn, but you may have to turn it off manually after a shallow turn or lane change. To turn the signal off, press the button in. Turn signals will automatically turn off after 30 seconds while the vehicle is moving.

I have installed auxiliary signal lights on mine as the beeping is not my favorite thing. Look on the RT touring page of the forum on the 2nd page I think for the thread "hidden turn signals". It provides a very noticeable reminder that the blinker is still on.
