• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Attacked!

Listen, I know that Spyders are different to some and are scary because they are different, but this is the second time I have been attacked on mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm a pretty good sized fellow and I have been in a scrap or two and come out on both the losing and the winning end but while I'm riding it is just purely ridiculous. It was touch and go for a minute but once I got stopped (on a hill and naturally due to the pain I couldn't get the parking brake set the first time) the tide turned in my favor. I got a picture of this jerk after I was finished with him. You tell me. I don' think he'll be messing with a Spyder Ryder again anytime soon.

To his credit, he did eat me alive until I got my shirt off. Long sleeves with button cuffs, HOW DID HE FLY UP MY SLEEVE? This wasn't a loose cuff lol Once I got out of my shirt and shook it I saw this jerk trying to fly away. Well by that time I had high blood so I chased him all around the road and into the ditch and back onto the road. Finally knocked him down with my shirt and finished him off with a size 13 to the head. I can only imagine what a passerby might have thought to see a Spyder parked, running, and it's Ryder still in helmet running around swinging his shirt wildly in the air (all while yelling into the com system much to my wife's dismay, she did say that I cussed this creature more than I have anything else ever.)

The first time I encountered a stinging flying death monsters was on my 3rd time out on the Spyder and got a yellow jacket between my collar and my neck. THAT swelling went down after about 3 days. Today my arm has a constant dull ache but I'll live. Anyways, be careful out there.

me too!

I had a cousin of his fly into my shirt and proceed to sting the heck out of me while I was yelling OW OW OW OW OW OW! into my bluetooth communication (my poor husband couldn't escape the shouts) until I could find a safe spot to pull over and remove my shirt (at that point I didn't care WHO saw what!). I think we counted 9 different stings all across my chest and shoulder.

I'm now an advocate of a bandana that hangs down to block access to shirt collars!

at least you got the fella who attacked you... I think my guy got away :(

1ST

on my very 1st SPYD3R ride, i had a YELLOW JACKET fly into the right sleeve of my T-shirt... as you may know, YELLOW JACKETS can sting multiple times.... which he/she did... he/she got me 5 times before i could come to a STOP and beat the crap out'a him/her and myself.... 5 HUGE lumps in my arm-pit and upper chest area... NOT FUN may i add.... I have since acquired 1 additional sting since then... however, this price i'm willing to pay to keep riding my SPYD3R....

Brings back the memories from the 70's when driving my Hondamatic down Ohio country roads. Beautiful, warm summer day. I had auto tranny and was somewhat invincible. No windshield. Wind in my face, jacket wide open to enjoy the summer breezes. I drove through a swarm of bees. Half of them ended up inside my t-shirt. I killed them by beating on them, but a lot of them got me first. Glad I am not allergic to bees. That would have been the end.

Lesson learned, no more open entries for critters to get in and do their thing.

I to have been

More than once I have met with one of these angry fellows while riding but the most memorable was in my earlier days of riding before before I had a windshield partially open denim jacket light t shirt and large swarm crossing the road how I kept up right was a mystery to me but i got clear or the swarm and got my top half uncovered i don't know how many time i was stung because i couldn't count the welts on my back but i had at least seven on my chest and belly and many more on my back thankfully i had a face shield on my helmet or probably would have lost it.

Assault

BREAKING NEWS!!
From our news affiliate in southern Colorado, a report of what is being described as a “drive-by” or run in between two individuals, an altercation with one injured and one missing.
Motorcyclist, J.D. Ryder (aka “Spyder”) said he was just cruising the neighborhood south of Ft. Garland when “all of a sudden this guy.. he was right in my face!!” Spyder said he tried to brush his assailant away, but in an instant he felt a pain to his nose and when examined later had evidence that an assault had been committed by redness and swelling in the center face region. Spyder's friends are standing by his account saying, “He's a real nice fellow, why he wouldn't hurt a fly”.
Local farmer and part-time apiarist Clo VerSweet said “ I wasn't there at the time, but some of my workers said that Apis Mellifera, called Billy B by his pals, never made it back from a run across the street to visit the local watering hole this morning. Officials are still waiting to talk to Apis for his side of the story. They are also asking for anyone with information about this bizarre occurrence to call the local authorities.
The only evidence (other than Mr. Ryders injuries) was a small ovipositor recovered at the scene. Forensic examiners are also evaluating for the presence of biological weapons such as the feared apitoxin. Although gang activity has not been reported investigators are checking out report of a “colony” of organized individuals operating out of safe houses in the area.Stinger.jpg

I was riding with my face shield open about 1/2" when I got stung, the bugger got me two more times before I could get my helmet off. I couldn't find it until I was about to put my helmet back on and it was sitting on the chin bar just waiting to sting me again.

You had me going there for a minute with your attacked story! Good work and much better when I found out that mean dudes were not out to get spyder riders (however, those wasps and related stinging members of the insect family can really hurt)! Ride safe!

My first Spyder was a 2008 GS
It was yellow and black
I could not go anywhere without attracting bees
It was not unusual to come back to my parked bike and find a swarm of bees on it
Will never own another yellow Spyder
And yes they even stung me while ridding

Amazing how many different languages you can speak when that happens:yikes:nojoke

I feel your pain...

I was a passenger on an unfaired motorcycle. The rider took the brunt of the bumblebee's impact but I got the backend jammed into my right thumb. Luckily, I'm not allergic but it was still unpleasant. By the time we got off the freeway and stopped at a gas station, my thumb was twice it's normal size.

Ouch...!!

Been there too many times...fortunatlely not alergic but when agricultural areas are split by highways bees crossing from field to field can be a problem...:yikes:

:cus::cus::cus: OMG!!! There is NOTHING on this earth I am more terrified of than a wasp. I didn't even consider this in wanting a Spyder. *huge sigh* I don't know now...I'm going to have to rethink this...lol

I got a bee in my shirt one time while riding a 2 wheeler. I felt him crawling and manage to get stopped and ripped my shirt open to see him crawling on my chest. Lucky for both of us we escaped unharmed.:yes:I was on my way home and had to ride the rest of the way with my buttonless shirt hanging open.:D It was on this same road I got hit in the chin by a grasshopper on the way to work, that evening on the way home I went directly to the bike shop and bought my first full faced helmet.
