• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

At what speed does the parking brake cease to operate?

I realized the electronic parking brake is located in an easy to use area right next to other switches that you may use while in motion and I got to thinking, what happens if you accidentally hit the parking brake switch while moving?

I hit it at 1 or 2 MPH and it stopped the bike immediately. I tried it in the parking garage at work at 10 MPH and it did nothing. I assume that is a safety issue as if you were going at speed and the brakes all the sudden locked up you could lose control.

Curious if anyone knows the exact speed it ceases to operate?

Somewhere between 2 and 10 I am assuming. :roflblack::joke::joke:

Sorry, couldn't resist. I was just wondering this the other day going about 60 MPH. So I am glad to see there is something in there that will not allow it at high speed. I think we should have people test this (not me of course). Start at 9 and work your way down. What is the worse that could happen?

:agree: 6 mph is (I believe!), the magic number... :D
This was brought up in here once before; I seem to recall, that this was the answer given.

Sorry! But I just can't help it... my parking brake operates at any speed if you put your foot on it... :roflblack: Really leary of electronic devises controlling vital things, but it is the way of the future. Hope to be too old to know or gone when you can't operate your own vehicles.... :gaah:

I believe Kurt Otteson (Team Tech leader from BRP ) told me 5 mph, I was having an issue with it coming on end engaging at stop lights, stop signs.

On my 2023 F3-L, what would happen if I accidentally hit the parking brake button instead of the mode button while I'm traveling down the highway? The buttons are close together, and mistakes can happen. Has anyone tried this accidentally or on purpose? I didn't know if BRP what thoughtful on their programming, and disabled the parking brake at speed.

The Operators Guide for my 2024 Spyder RT has a PARKING BRAKE BUTTON section on Page 22.
There's a CAUTION box on the page that has this text:

To avoid personal injury or vehicle
damages, the parking brake cannot
be activated when the vehicle
is running above 10 km/h (6 mi/h).

Yes, it’s amazing how many questions can be answered via a simple thumb through of the operator’s guide, raccoon.

we live in age of internet now that requires a question on a forum rather than looking in operators guide or manual yourself to find the answer. Questions first before spending time to look it up

:oldpost: This one goes back to May/2014. Other than the four who posted today, the others are all gone from the site and the thread has been dormant since May of 2014.

The answer is 5 or 6 mph. I am going to close this thread down.
