• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

At the Dealer??

Well, Saturday turned into a partial bust. Sabunim5, Capt John and myself were supposed to meet and join some 2 wheeler friends of mine to participate in a Wounded Warrior Poker Run.

My spyder ran just fine when I left at 0630 to meet Capt John at 0700. But when I tried to start the spyder when we were leaving to meet Sabunim5 the troubles began -- spyder wouldn't start -- no display - NADA. Took a look at the battery and cleaned the terminals put it all back together and it fired right up - but idle RPM's were running about 2300. So I shut her down - checked connections again - refired and this time the RPM's at idle were 1800. Decided to try it out and see if it would settle some. Rode to meet Sabunin5 about a 15 mile run on the interstate. Spyder ran just fine. When I came off the interstate the spyder acted fine until I had to make a final left to get to the parking lot at the Visitor Center at Pensacola Bay -- Trottle was moving fine but RPM's at idle 7000 :yikes:. Feathered the spyder to the parking lot.

Sabunim5 took a look at things - everything seemed to be normal with the throttle - no error codes had been shown. Decided to use my BEST warranty option and have the spyder towed to the dealer Pensacola Motor Sports (PMS). (I will say the people at the BEST Warranty number were first rate - I had a tow truck to my location with in 1 hour.)

When we arrived at the dealer. The service manager immediately took a look at the spyder - while we were scoping out the RTS' that is. In about 1/2 hour he came back and told me that the trottle problem was solved. It seems that the throttle was "pinched". He said it probably occured when I changed my grips out - but I did that 6 months ago and have had no issues. He wanted me to take it out for a ryde - which I did - in fact Sabunim5, CAPT JOHN and myself went and had a great seafood lunch.
The trottle worked to perfection and the spyder was great. We went back to PMS and dropped the spyder off because it is time for its 12,000 miler.

I jumped on the back of Sabunim's spyder and we rode to my house where the 3 of us had an afternoon of sitting on the porch just trading stories. (we had not been able to ryde for about 2 1/2 months because of my recent surgery). It was great to see everyone again.

I want to say thank you to the BEST Warranty employees that assisted me A1 job and KUDO's to PMS for the prompt assistance as usual.
Hope to have the spyder back soon - so I can put miles of smiles during this great ryding season.

Good to hear that your throttle problem has been solved. I had the same problem with the parking brake cable it had a pinch in it, that and wouldn't allow it to completely release.

Putting on ESI 3" risers last week, I found out I didn't have a 1" block riser but a 2". This was put on before I bought it.

I thought I was going to have a problem and after taking the panels off, we found more than 4" extra cable, so went ahead and got to work on it, taking off the grips and cutting the bars. I wasn't able to tilt the risers back to where I wanted them but, just the same its a whole lot better than what I had before and my back feels much better.

I did notice that my throttle wasn't working right, so had it checkout today. Was told that in time the cable will stretch and am now getting used to rolling the throttle forward as far as I can go, before I shift to a higher gear. I was getting this jerky shift and not a smooth one as before.

Glad things have worked out for you too.

Spyder is still in the shop having the 12,000 mile check up completed.

Hope to have it back by the weekend (of course it is supposed to rain :yikes:).

Hopefully it will be hit and miss and I can get a short ryde. I am still sore after surgery and cannot tolerate long distances at this time.

It's a good time for your Spyder to be in the shop, so you can heal up some more. I Hope your feeling better soon and can take longer rydes.

I know how you feel whenever, I gotta take the truck and see the Spyder sitting under the cover. What a Bummer!:D

Thought I would just let everyone know I got Fang back on Friday - 2 weeks in the shop to do the 12,000 mile check. Problem with the trottle had been resolved the dday I took it to the shop - pinched trottle sleeve.

When PMS check out the spyder they said it had bad plug wires so they put them on order - I think they called me about 4 days into the 2 weeks about that. Took 6 days to get the wires and then an additional day to get a retainer(for the wires) that needed to be replaced also.

Weather was bad all weekend and other than ryding the spyder home from the shop I had not been able to ryde any until today.

Perform very well - responsive as always. Seems to be running a little better in fact - probably the new spark plug wires. I am hoping my gas mileage improves as at the 6000 mile check I had been getting 30-34 per gallon and recently it had dropped to 26-28mpg. Time will tell.

This is another reason why BRP need to have a part distribution center in the US or let dealers stock regular maintenance parts.

Just happy to be ryding again. :ohyea:
