Well, Saturday turned into a partial bust. Sabunim5, Capt John and myself were supposed to meet and join some 2 wheeler friends of mine to participate in a Wounded Warrior Poker Run.
My spyder ran just fine when I left at 0630 to meet Capt John at 0700. But when I tried to start the spyder when we were leaving to meet Sabunim5 the troubles began -- spyder wouldn't start -- no display - NADA. Took a look at the battery and cleaned the terminals put it all back together and it fired right up - but idle RPM's were running about 2300. So I shut her down - checked connections again - refired and this time the RPM's at idle were 1800. Decided to try it out and see if it would settle some. Rode to meet Sabunin5 about a 15 mile run on the interstate. Spyder ran just fine. When I came off the interstate the spyder acted fine until I had to make a final left to get to the parking lot at the Visitor Center at Pensacola Bay -- Trottle was moving fine but RPM's at idle 7000 :yikes:. Feathered the spyder to the parking lot.
Sabunim5 took a look at things - everything seemed to be normal with the throttle - no error codes had been shown. Decided to use my BEST warranty option and have the spyder towed to the dealer Pensacola Motor Sports (PMS). (I will say the people at the BEST Warranty number were first rate - I had a tow truck to my location with in 1 hour.)
When we arrived at the dealer. The service manager immediately took a look at the spyder - while we were scoping out the RTS' that is. In about 1/2 hour he came back and told me that the trottle problem was solved. It seems that the throttle was "pinched". He said it probably occured when I changed my grips out - but I did that 6 months ago and have had no issues. He wanted me to take it out for a ryde - which I did - in fact Sabunim5, CAPT JOHN and myself went and had a great seafood lunch.
The trottle worked to perfection and the spyder was great. We went back to PMS and dropped the spyder off because it is time for its 12,000 miler.
I jumped on the back of Sabunim's spyder and we rode to my house where the 3 of us had an afternoon of sitting on the porch just trading stories. (we had not been able to ryde for about 2 1/2 months because of my recent surgery). It was great to see everyone again.
I want to say thank you to the BEST Warranty employees that assisted me A1 job and KUDO's to PMS for the prompt assistance as usual.
Hope to have the spyder back soon - so I can put miles of smiles during this great ryding season.
