• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Argh...when it rains it pours

Well...they believe it's the VCM...I probably won't get the trike back for another 3 weeks.
1)Should I ask for BRP to make this months payment since I will not have the trike for 1 month since it was sent in for repairs?
2)Should I have them trailer the trike back to my house until the parts arrives? A full month in a maintenance shop...will it turn into a chair, or a table, or a work bench, or a step stool, or a shelf? Will parts be lost or damaged? That's a long time to sit, how long before the integrity of the employees to respect and be wary to stay away and stand clear of this machine until it is time for repair.
It stinks what can I say mine was just tied up for about 3 weeks and I went through the same worries you can call this BRP number and get a case goin 715-848-4957 it did seem to get things rolling a little bit :thumbup:my dealer did offer me a Demo though I declined beacause have other rides.

Supposedly they did. I asked them to check the relays and fuses several times, asked about computer connections, check the battery terminals. I am not sure they had the computer program to read the Spyder, they mentioned having to download a program to read the codes. They have had it since thursday, they should have started parts swapping by now. It's getting a little ridiculous, they still have no idea.

Which dealer did you take it to? Ina or 22nd? (Though I think either place would be similarly clueless.) Also, I do have a trailer and can haul it if you need it moved.

I'm gonna make some calls, I am not sure how disassembled this thing is at the moment...it's at the Ina location.

Well...calling BRP customer service is like trying to talk to a berkley student on free brownie night. The only good thing that happened was Ride Now called me up and said...We'll let you have your SV1000S back until your Spyder is fixed...I rode it home and....I want it back...I miss it...I am going to buy it, shame on me for straying!

I gotta say...after thinking about it, their parts supply is really flawed. They claim the reason for the delay has to do with the item being electronic. Homeland Security, Customs and Canadian technology export laws come into play. They make it sound like this item fits a catagory that requires inspection and research to verify it's safe to release from the country and safe to travel in the U.S. BRP, without question, should always have a U.S. parts depot with enough parts always on hand to build 10 Spyders to eliminate this problem. They should also monitor the most highly requested parts and keep an extra surplus of them while they redesign the flawed item.

I'd like to know their excuse for not being able to get a windshield replacement for three months the first time, and four months and counting again. Sure not electronic. They can blame anything they want on customs, but their problems run far, far deeper than that. They will turn customers off, and that will be the end of the Spyder.

If the problem is indeed customs, how can they import the Spyder, with all its electronics? I think it's more like custom(ary) to sell and offer little support afterward. I'm still waiting on a Service Manual, going on 3 months.

Thats good news. I was looking at your avatar pic a little closer just now and I am wondering what is the story behind it. They look like large RC planes, is that correct?

Yeah, it's giant scale 3-D...lots of videos on you tube...Tucson Aerobatic shoot-out is just 1 of many.

I was going to buy a Spyder, but early on it seemed to me like they were signing up any dealer that wanted to participate and did not provide any dealer training. That and long delivery delays, combined with continual parts shortages, left me thinking I would wait a while to buy. Since nothing seems to have changed over the past year except the delivery times are better, I have decided to go with a Goldwing based trike. Had one before. More expensive yes, but also far more reliable and will outlast the Spyder by a longshot.

Yeehaw...It's ready...gonna go pick it up after work. I have mixed emotions about returning the SV, but it's just not safe to buy something like that right now.
After all this, the mechanic couldn't clear the faults with the new parts...he had to contact BRP again to learn how to clear the codes. I wonder if there was a problem at all or just a glitch...next time, I will ask for the codes to be cleared first!

It's good to have her back...but I'm thinking about the other woman:opps:.
I gotta find some part time work until...she needs to come home.
