Are ‘21 RT front shocks the same Length as '14-'19 models?

Hi Boys and Girls,

EDIT - the above heading should say “same LENGTH as 14-19 models. I know there were possible internal changes, but it is any LENGTH difference that I am trying to ascertain.

I’m looking to get some front Ikon shocks to reduce the chance of popping my instrument cluster (and other things) out on our rubbish roads again. Ikon haven’t sold any ‘20+ RT front shocks before and are having trouble confirming that the ‘20+ RT shocks are the same length as the ‘14-‘19. The stock part number is different, but that may just be a cosmetic or spring change.

Can anyone who has installed aftermarket front shocks on a ‘21 confirm they have bought an Elka or other shock that is listed as being for the ‘14-‘20 model RT? Lamonster lists only one Elka Stage 2 model as being for ‘14-‘20, and I assume simply hasn’t updated his product listing yet to include ‘21 or ‘22, but I would just like to confirm that the shock length has remained the same from ‘14-‘21 for Ikon and my peace of mind before committing.

Hope that makes some kind of sense….:dontknow:

Pete

Is it possible for you to measure your 2021 shocks and ask Ikon if they're the same as 2014 shocks?

I have the 2014 front Ikons and can lift a wheel to measure the shock but Greg at Ikon should already have that information.

There are other differences as I point out here: https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums...-trailer&p=1610861&highlight=ikon#post1610861

BTW -- I ordered all three of Boris's books early January but only received one. Do you know if he's having any shipping problems? I was getting ready to send an e-mail.

The Elka shocks I have on my 2021 RT are the ones from my 2014 RTS and fit with no issues at all. They have been installed for a while now, so I dont remember if I compared the lengths. I can t imagine me installing them without checking the length first though. I am pretty picky about that stuff. I know the stock 2021 RT shocks are 19 inches center-to-center(unloaded).

Thanks Bert….I didn’t have the time to take the Tupperware off to measure the length of the shocks on the ‘21, and you can’t measure without doing that which is why I was asking here. It’s the first ‘21 front shocks Ikon is doing and they can’t find relevant info anywhere. The fact that Joel has fitted ‘14 Elka shocks on his ‘21 tells me it works though. :2thumbs:

Boris hasn’t mentioned any issues with shipping. I could do no more than send him an email asking anyway, so it would probably be better if you sent the email…..he’s pretty responsive…..they are great books

Thanks Joel…..that 19” = 480mm and the Ikon shock is 478mm precisely, so I can’t see any issues with it fitting. They are happy to mod it if it doesn’t fit first up anyway.

thats great! I went to the IKON website to see if I could get a set for my 2021. Is $599.99 the price for the pair? That seems like a great price!! I will be ordering a set to try.

Mine were $858aussie which equates to around $630usd, Joel……shipping was $20 out here, but I’m not sure how much shipping to the US would be…..US to here for a Lamonster dash bag was going to be about $40 for the bag and $80 shipping:yikes:…. Not sure about going the other way. Currently about 3-4 weeks lead/build time. Maybe send Bert Remington a pm about ship cost as he recently bought a front set for his 2014. They have limited 4 setting rebound adjustment once you get them built for your weight and riding style, but I don’t plan on adjusting them more than once after I set the sag and do a bit of test riding anyway.

Also, I’m not sure that they will want to build and ship another ‘21 set until I get mine as they are not yet 100% sure they will fit. (They are waiting on BRP to provide specs, and that could arrive any time though).
