There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Arai Pro Shade System

Jeriatric

Thinks out loud
Aria wearers. You may or may not know about this fairly new system

Fits all Arai SAI full-face helmets including the Arai Corsair V, Vector 2, RX-Q, Arai Signet-Q and Defiant.

Just installed one on the spyder helmet. Have not riden with it yet. First impression....

If, it passes muster I'll add another to the SMT helmet.

Let me know what you think of this system. I don't stock it yet but I can get them.

Baja,

How's this any better than the pinlock I purchased from you for my Arai Profile?

I just checked out the video and I'm even more confused. You can install a pin lock fog resistant lens to the primary shield, which is pinlock.

Oh yeah, one more question. The packaging says Arai SAL-type for my pinlock lens; What's SAI vs SAL?

As always, 'Better' depends on your perspective. If you want a dark smoke shield that flips up and down then this is better. Pinlock inserts are mainly to prevent fogging but you can get them in shades to double as a tinted shield.

The primary shield on this system will take a Pinlock insert. Because the main purpose of Pinlock is fog prevention and not sun shielding, some will prefer both the fog prevention of Pinlock and the flip down sun shade.

SAI is the current I-Type Arai full face helmet. SAL is the older L-Type. The shields are not interchangeable. This Flip Down shield is only made for the newer SAI models. The Profile is the older L-Type Arai helmet.
Personally, I prefer the Mirrored shields. I carry a shield pouch which holds 2 shields. I switch from a mirrored (dawn to dusk) to a clear (night). Mirror cuts the glare very well and gives a bright, clear picture. Smoked shields cut bright sun but are not nearly as good visually and are no good at dawn or dusk.

I wish they had something like that for Shoei helmets since Arais don't fit me right. I only use Snell rated helmets so that keeps out any of the helmets that have the interior sun shade.

Maybe Shoei will follow along.

It is rare that no Arai will fit your head since there are 3 different head shapes in the Arai line and each of these 3 has further adjustments to fine tune fit.

Shoei is typically a Round Head fit but not all Shoei full face helmets fit the same. There may be a Shoei model that fits well and another that does not.

Depending on which Shoei fits you best it is likely that there is an Arai helmet that will also fit well.

Having said this, Snell is an overrated standard in many cases. A standard that most know little or nothing about. There are DOT only rated helmets that are arguably safer than many Snell rated helmets.

ron , its been a long winter, you were missed at the drag strip while at spyderfest. Can you order one of these for me with a larger vector 2 helmet in either "thrill" or "stage" styles?

I will give you a full review on the new shield.

Hope to see you in durango.

Review

300 miles with it today. Suggestion for anyone who gets one. Do not judge it until you spend a day behind it. Because like anything new, once you stop paying ayttention to it and just let it do what it is supposed to do. I think you will be happy with it.

Clear shield optic quality is superior to the stock helmet visor, and stays that way when the sun visor is dropped down.

May be because I'm tall :dontknow:about shorter users, but when viewing the dash or stock mounted GPS. I'm actually looking through the clear part of the shield just below the smoke tent - with the visor down. A good thing and hope it works same for shorter riders. I think it will but :dontknow: for sure.

Eyebrow Vents...they do a better job than those in the stock shield.

Moving it up and down is seamless, and for now it automatically drops into the up and locked detents. Not sure if this will be a wear item, or if it will always work that way. Only time will tell.

Wind noise. It may be a little noisier than stock. That said, I wear ear plugs on long runs, and it seemed a little noisier to me on my way to coffee. Prior to the days ride. You'll have to decide for yourself. Not enough difference to be a game changer for me.

Like everything else. It will evolve but works plenty good enough considering it's the first release.

I will be buying another for the SMT helmet

Happy with my purchase :doorag:
