There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Anyone using Octane Booster in their Spyder? Pros & Cons?

Anyone have experience using an octane booster in a Spyder? How did the Spyder perform? Any potential negative side effects. My summer riding plans may take me to areas without premium gas.

I’ve used octane booster and have not witnessed any negative results. I’ve also ran 87 octane fuel and no negative results. A good number of long term Spyder riders burn 87 octane always with no negative results. Just use whatever suits your fancy, although I wouldn’t use a high concentration of corn (ethanol). 10% ethanol at the most. jmho

I have been using 87 octane for over eight years, across 4 different Spyders. No issues that I am aware of. In AR, where I now live, I use 87 with 10% ethanol blend. Going on three years now.

Bottom line, would not worry about not getting premium. Use of octane booster is dubious, in my opinion of course.

Try three tanks of 87 and see if you can tell any difference. That would be a good test.

I used it on my last tour thru SD, Yellowstone, Colorado, and fly-overs. I ran 89 when available but many stations only had 86 or 85 when we got into the higher country. In the mountain uphills, the RT was struggling. Then I ran a couple tankfuls with the booster which helped a little but not enough to bother since. The RT is smart enough to use whatever you feed it. I my case from 85 to 93. Maybe I'll try avgas next.

:agree: with BBB & AR ..... from my 08 GS - 11 RSS and now my 14 RT almost 100,000 mi. using only 87 oct. mostly with ethanol and they all ran great .... there is so much " Hooey " from snake oil salesmen. about " incredible " products...... I'm very skeptical .... Mike

Whenever I can, I fuel up, with premium (non ethanol gas), but the 1330 engine can cope, with whatever you feed it, It's ecu will reduce power (just a little, hardly noticable), when using a ethanol blended fuel.
Personally my experience is, with premium fuel, the spyder performs at it's best.

I also noticed my ride performs a little better with mid grade or higher. For less than $2 a fill up I've started using mid/higher grade cus I can. If I was filling up my RV-87 if fine.

I agree with everyone's comments, BUT, if you have your ECU flashed then maybe not. I had the Monster Stage II flash which requires always at least 91 octane and preferably 93 octane fuel. At the recommendation of Monster I am using BOOSTane whenever I cannot buy at least 91 octane fuel. Since I ride in rural Arkansas, I will frequently encounter only having 87 octane fuel available. Cannot comment on whether or not it helps but it is economical insurance against damaging the engine. I purchase it on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/BOOSTane-Pro...H6ZC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1.

I also have stage 2 from Monster, and they too recommended Bosotane. I bought 2 4oz. bottles and keep them in the spyder when traveling. Regarding the octane subject, the short of the long story (which is worth the research) is that it burns cleaner, better, and at a lower temperature than regular 87 fuel. Our stock spyders will self adjust to burn regular or premium safely and effectively whichever you choose to put in them. (The eco freaks would bode well to bone up on their octane knowledge.)
