• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone use these mirror extensions?

windshield

Thanks for the pic kml354 - I was wondering where the windshield might need to be cut, if needed, and your pic has answered my question.

Did you cut it yourself? If so, what tool did you use?

Also, where did you get the extension for the top of the shield? I just installed my shield yesterday and as I was ryding was thinking it would be great if it had an extension. :2thumbs:

I cut the shield with a dremel tool, just followed the outline of mirror.
The extension is from http://www.laminarlip.com/. I also drilled holes in windshield to hold on the laminar lip.

Without the laminar lip the head buffeting was horrible at 75 and above.

Most people don't want to cut and drill an expensive shield, but in order to make it what I wanted there was no other way.

I believe my next shield will be a Madstad.

I also have the ultra touring 25" windshield. I want to put on the up and out extensions and a 4.5" riser. One of the threads I was read stated the member used a heat gun to soften the windshield and they bent the windshield so it fit.:dontknow:

I like the extened windshield :2thumbs:. How talll are you and how well does it help with the wind? You said you might go to the Madstad, is this extension not working as well as you like? I'm 6'1" and set high in the saddle. Right now the wind hits me right under the chin and I was hoping that this mod would help.

Thanks for any extra info!

Which extension did you get from them? Does it work well?

I'm 5'6" but sit tall in the saddle, short legs.
I might switch out to the Madstad for summer driving.
It helped a lot was getting a lot of wind at 75 mph, no problem now.
Wife was getting beat up without the extension.
Just used a regular drill to mount the extension.
It's the Spyder extension.

A Dremel I have  Which bit did you use? And did you use a special bit to drill the holes for the Laminar?

Used abrasive cutoff disc. Just used regular drill for Laminar. Drilled through masking tap no problems with breakout.

I have the Up and Out Mirror Extensions ...

Love 'em one of the best additions I have made to my Spyder.
I can see what's behind me now!

Very easy install.
