• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone use an Iridium face shield? Any advantages/disadvantages?

Have never used one and just wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of using one. Thinking about Gold or Red on a new white modular helmet.

I have been using them for some 30 odd years now!! The main advantage is crystal clear vision by eliminating light refractions, glare etc. The only disadvantage COULD be if you ryde at night it is darker than a clear but no darker than other tinted visors of the same level.

Pretty much what Hypurone said above. Used several, but is a problem if riding at night. Am now using a Transition lens on my current Shoei helmet. Love it!

I've been using them forever. Ever since I almost killed myself in New Mexico riding with a dark smoke shield from extremely bright sunlight into a non lighted tunnel on a windy mountain road. I couldn't see a thing. I've ridden the iridium shields at night and though I don't recommend it, it can be done in a pinch. I won't wear anything else.

As mentioned, they give a much better, sharper view, more accurate coloration, and will cut glare quite well. The outside color, strangely, makes no difference to the view from the inside. I highly recommend them.

But do not wash them with anything but straight water. When I am on a trip, I use a dedicated lint free cloth. Wet it good and lay it across my shield while I fill up with fuel to let it soak the bugs, etc. Then I genly wipe it. I've had them last more than one season using this method. Wash them with the wrong liquid or rub them and you can destroy them in short order.
