• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Anyone think it possible to put an Aux Fuel Tank in the trunk of an RT?

Saw the set up from Mr. Orange and am very impressed. However, I have reservations regarding carrying the extra tank in front.

Anyone think it possible to place a tank/fuel bladder in the trunk and use a simpler gravity feed system? I think using what appeared to be a modified gas cap would avoid having to modify the tank itself.

I do some Ironbutt rides and am just looking for extended range.

Fuel mileage has increased slightly at 2000 miles on the RTS

TIA

I would have serious concerns about the safety aspects of having an aux tank above the main fuel tank. Too easy to overflow the main. I have concerns about the front location, asd you do, but I'd rather do that than have the fuel tank as my backrest, so to speak. Use of a fuel cell mitigates the risk of the front tank nicely. The weight capacity is important to keep in mind.

Front compartment = 35 lb
Saddlebags = 15 lb each
Rear cargo = 20 lb

I think another issue of using the rear trunk is the weight capacity. With what it costs to have a fuel cell custom made you would get very much gas for your dollar back there. My second second choice would be to use the side bags. This still leaves you the large front trunk and the rear trunk for carrying gear. With the tanks located in the side bags you could have pumps in both tanks or a single external pump feed into a single line going into the main tank. This would keep the weight balanced as you moved fuel. Although that issue isn't as critical on our trikes. My pump is controlled by a programmed relay that is set up to pump just 2.5 gallons at a time. I never move fuel until the low light comes on so I never have to worry about over filling. I had a bung brazed onto the main tank so that the fuel empties into the tank just opposite the regular fill point.

Didn't realize you had a limit

Thanks for the reminder. Best capacity for the weight is the frunk, so that will be the best choice.

Mr. Orange

Could you confirm what is in the pics you posted? I think they are of a modified RT gas cap. Did you drill through the handle for the fittings from the aux tank?
