• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

We will be in the East TN / West NC mountain area for 6 days starting Thursday, 10/10/13. Camping just off I-26 at Grandview Ranch near Unicoi TN.

We will be ryding all over the area from Asheville to Boone to Johnson City and parts in between everyday ....

If anyone has current/recent info on road or facility closures in that area & the Blue Ridge Pkwy let us know...

Hope to see some more Spyders up there too! Get in touch!

The wife and I were planning on going to the Parkway in the next couple weeks in Virginia, but as we understand the parkway is closed by the Park Service as part of the Gov shutdowns. :(

I am at the southern end of the skyline drive and beginning of the Blue Ridge parkway. The skyline drive is closed completely due to the idiots in our government. But I am told the blueridge is still open but certain facilities that are federal run are closed.

Anyone up this way let me know and I will show you some nice riding in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Hmmm....that is good to know.

I wonder if we could still find a hotel. :)

I am sure there is a lot of hotels once you get off the blue ridge parkway. There is exits every 20-30 miles pretty much on the whole thing.

Been a few years since we ran down the Parkway, use to go couple times a year 20 years ago. Lately we usually get to places using 81. It would be nice to get back and just ride around for a couple days.

This past weekend

DSCF1447.jpgWe were just on the BRP over Saturday and Sunday. The road itself is wide open as is Grandfather Mountain, and Mount Mitchell. The campsites, information areas, you know, stuff that is normally staffed by rangers and such were all closed. Had no trouble with lodging in Blowing Rock and Boone is wide open as well, provided there isn't a Mountaineers game.(Oh by the way our own Charleston Southern beat them on their home turf last week) Meanwhile, go by all means, some color is starting to come out, especially at the higher elevations. I'll provide some snaps when I get back to my home computer. Oh, and a meal at the Daniel Boone Inn in Boone is a must. Patrick

Yes, two Spyders and one Goldwing trike. We are going to Martinsville for the NASCAR race Sunday Oct 27. Then starting on Monday we are taking the BRP South into North Carolina and the Deals Gap. But it all depends on the weather and if the road is open.

back from our trip to East TN and the Blue Ridge Pkwy...

We saw some beautiful colors at the higher elevations but were too early for peak which will likely be this weekend and next week.

Here's a few pics from our recent trip...

That last pic is some fellows from the Dark Side on two wheels... anybody recognize them?
