• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ANYONE KNOW IF THIS STUFF WORKS

The article that Ron posted confirms what the Myth Busters found when they tested all the passive products that clam to hide your plate from the camera.

Yep, totally bogus stuff. Just a scam to get your cash.

Even if it DID work, some states have laws with HUGE FINES for doing anything to defeat detection devices.

How about you lobby your local government to relax the parameters for giving out tickets so that they only catch the "real" offenders ???
Many places give tickets for rolling through a "right on red" at a speed LESS than a sick snail.
Also some places have yellows that are shorter than State required minimums.

I think people who BLOW through a red light a few seconds after it has been red should go to jail.
But some of the things that are happening with these cameras is just NOT right.

Just tell her to slow down, and she won't need to worry about getting tickets...

And it's FREE! :D
speed limit in nyc is 25mph, if you don't move forward past line while waiting to make a left you have to sit through for
the next green arrow but if my wife were to be mayor then she can go 45mph and disregard the lights.

Geting their cake and eating it too

A company that manufactures the radar units in police vehicles, ALSO sells radar detectors.

I know that if you block a plate in NYC it will cost you $$.$$$. You are better off stopping, its easier......and cheaper.

i once bought one of the plastic plates that was like a defuser over the plate. it was going to block the camera from taking a picture on a angle. i don't know if it ever worked. but when i lived in a apartment with my ex, i came out one day to find a ticket on my car. it said i covered the plate. turns out any change you make to a plate is not legal. at that time i lived across from the number two chief of police joe d. i won't say his last name. he told me to fight the ticket and take pictures. so i did. i won and the ticket was dropped, but i took the thing off my plate. it was something like this

This might be a perfect example of what I was trying to say.
In most places, you are LEGALLY IN THE INTERSECTION if you cross the line before the RED appears.
Then once IN the intersection, you are legally allowed to finish your maneuver and get OUT of the intersection after the RED has appeared.

But NYC isn't "most places". Saw LOTS of "don't block the box" signs there so the "normal" rules may not apply.

Common sense does not apply to nyc drivers or dmv laws
