Anyone interested in renting out their RT near Cincinnati?

Anyone interested in renting out their RT near Cincinnati for the period 8.7.24 - 8.13.24 for a KY ride?

Unfortunately, we just hit a deer head on with my 2012 RT and I'm not sure if it'll be fixed or even fixable - the shop has already said 2012 new parts are hard to come by. I had a trip scheduled with a riding group I just joined last year of some old friends and now new ones who do a 5 day ride every year. I was going to trailer mine down, but I was having trouble finding a trailer to rent for out-of-town use, & my wife's CRV needs a trailer hitch added, but it will only have 1500 lb capacity and the bike is 952 lbs or so, I think. I'm hoping to find something that's only 2 hours or less to the Cincy area, as we're meeting just South of there to start the ride. I'm not trying to add to my risk with long rides on highways by myself (vs having 12 of us in a group).

Eagle Rider's got nothing. Ridershare has a few options, but they're all pretty expensive. I didn't know if anyone in the group has any interest in renting out their Spyders or what they might charge? I'm still hoping mine will be fixed, but gotta have options at this point.

Deer lost, bike lost... but my wife and I are uninjured and still alive. 1/2 sec sooner or later and I would've likely been swerving at 60mph and off the road &/or off the bike, or the deer would've been in our laps and we would've definitely ended up off the bike. Truly blessed.

Good luck with that. Renting out ones Spyder is not very popular here on Spyderlovers. I know for me; I would never even consider it. I'm sure others will chime in and let you know their thoughts. With a crashed 2012, you'd be far better off taking the insurance money and buying a newer model.

No, don't rent your Spyder out. I don't think your insurance company would like that.

I would suggest trade up to a 2014 Spyder model. Since the 2012 Spyder parts are difficult to find.

As much as I spent on my Spyder, I know I will not. I don't see anyone doing this.

I would not rent my Spyder to someone I didn't know, and I'm pretty sure my insurance company would have something to say about me doing something like that, since I'm the only listed driver on my policy.

Since you've already done enough research to find that there are places where you can rent a Spyder, the only decision is whether you are willing to pay what they ask.

Some towing weight information:

2012 Spyder RT - 929 lbs
Stinger CAN-AM Trailer - 555 lbs
Total - 1,484

2012 Honda CR-V maximum tow weight - 1,500 lbs

So it's doable.

As for the trailer and towing questions, I recently traded in a 2014 Honda CR-V for a 2023 Honda Ridgeline.
I bought a Curt Class III hitch for the 2014 CR-V before I sold it, but never installed it. Curt says it will also fit a 2012 CR-V.
I also have the trailer wiring harness for a 2014 CR-V.

So if you're interested... :joke:

Thanks Racoon. I may reach back out to take you up on that re hitch and harness. Gotta see if they can fix mine first.

Figured Spyder lovers wouldn't likely rent it out but didn't hurt to ask. Thought I might catch someone who also used it as a side hustle.

Appreciate you responding with the info. I hadn't seen the Stinger Trailer tho, that is much better than the heavier trailers I'd been finding in town.

Thanks Copperman - I figured it was worth a try in case anyone was maybe doing it as a side hustle (ie maybe used one and rented one?!) You don't know if you don't ask. Appreciate you responding! Have already begun searching buy options in case it can't be fixed!

Br549Rick - Thanks... Yeah, I've already begun looking, just in case the 2012 can't be fixed. Appreciate you responding!!

Thanks for responding. Yeah - I figured it didn't hurt to ask just in case someone had maybe a side hustle like with RideShare. Already looking for a replacement just in case.
