Has anyone on here had one of these fail? Particularly 2018 and 2019 models. Is it a good idea to leave the bike parked in your garage without the parking brake being engaged? This was suggested to me, and I can see how the cable is put under stress, but I don't see how the parking brake motor is stressed when the ignition is switched off.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Had no problems with mine. It is possible the cable gets hard to move. That could put a strain on the motor. I don't see how parking it with the parking brake engaged could strain the motor, since the motor is not operating except when setting or releasing the brake. Road salt, debris, dust, could get on the cable. Might cause corrosion and make it hard to move the cable.

If you want to not use the PB when parked at home on a level surface it is fine. My garage is level and I don't use my PB at all when at home... The beeping after key off will stop in about 10seconds... Some FYI's about using that kind of pressure on a warm or hot disc or even when wet, is that it can cause warpage over time and when wet it can cause the pads to seize on the rotor.. It is not guaranteed to happen or that common but if you can reduce the time it is applied it doesn't hurt. ;-)

The parking brake motor drives a worm gear. The worm gear provides the engaged/released locking mechanism, not the PBM. The most common PBM failure mode seems to be unevenly worn brushes.
