• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Anybody heard from Lamont?

BajaRon

Well-known member
He is out there somewhere in Washington DC. :dontknow:

He hasn't called me so he must be having a lot of fun...

Lamont has posted 32 pictures on this site. See above. They were taken at the convention center.

I heard from Lamonster today.:clap::2thumbs:

He was just getting to finally take the RT out for the ride, and was really excited to be doing so.

He also told me he asked and found out why I did not get a chance to see one of the new RTs early.

He said that BRP told him that "oh yes they know who I am alright! But unfortunatly they see me and NMN as a competitor to BRP and inasmuch could not let me see the RT early."

So, I guess if it's like the American Indians used to say....

"your strength is judged by who your enemies are"

I'm not sure why an industry GIANT like BRP would worry about little old NMN/ESI, but so be it? I guess they seem to think there is something here to fear? :dontknow:

They also made him (and the other 4 of the RT/5 )sign a form saying they would not take the RT to a 3rd party (like me :D) and let them measure, test or check out the unit. I guess they really want this kept under wraps from all us "aftermarket guys" until Dec when the units become available.

Anyway, I made him promise to call me as soon as they were done with the ride. He also said he had some other "really neat things" to tell me, so I can't wait to hear from him.

You should be flattered that an industry giant such as BRP is afraid of you.

Maybe you should be considered an industry giant as well?:2thumbs:

That's funny, because Patti says I'm a "Giant" too. A Giant pain in the butt that is? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Evan, I am so glad to see the positive adjustment in your attitude toward this. You are a lot more fun with that sly smile on your face. :D Good reasons (given typical corporate mentality) and kind of a testimony to your success in taking a chunk of the Spyder accessory market. Keep smiling, buddy.

When there is money on the table, each player reaches for as much as he can get. This is why Harley competes directly with the aftermarket guys. It is no surprise that BRP will do the same.

You know if it's because they are "afraid" of me, than the laughs on them. :roflblack:

I never thought of this as NMN against them, but obviously they must have. :dontknow:

I just wanted to make a great and fun machine better. Most everything I have made for the Spyder is because I wanted it on my Spyder first to make it more fun or somehow better. I never made anything thinking about taking sales from BRP, or from anybody else for that matter. It was just because I wanted it as a Spyder rider and owner.

Most of you being Spyder Lovers like myself wanted your Spyder better or more fun as well, so you bought my stuff.

Ether way, no big deal I will have an RT soon enough  and then I can start making "my RT" better and more fun once again. If any of you want what I make for it great, that's all the better! But I will be making it first because I want or need it, because I love making "neat stuff" for my bikes.

You see it's just what I do with my bikes. It's how "I play with my toys." Because it's not just about the riding for me, I love just being around them and figuring new stuff out.

I pretty much figured this was the case. I mean---- look at it this way----- the new RT has many of the add-ons that you came up with or are at least selling. Risers, LED lights, Adjustable windshield, etc..

You really should be flattered as you know they have a Spyder somewhere in a dark lab that has your mods all over it----:D

I just got off the phone with Lamont. He has just finished his ride on the new RT. I will let him tell everyone all the details but I have to say, if I didn't want one before, I really want one now. I am just not sure how to make it happen. Lamont seems to have a great first impression of this machine. Can't wait to see it in person at the BBQ.

Thanks Deb, like I needed encouragement. :roflblack: I was fearing his glowing report. I am doomed! :D

There it is......Always all about the $$.... And exactly why those 5 got the new bikes to ride.....It has NOTHING to do with testing or review......4 forum moderators and a professional m/c journalist.....It's all about 'spin control'.....Drum up a bunch of forum pre-release excitement, coupled with expectations that someone wouldn't submit poor reviews of a 'free' bike.......and perhaps having some influence in what might be posted on the boards in the future......Marketing 101.......
It would be like waiving a Carrot at a Spastic Rabbit :ani29:
