anybody ever see a half of a monitor screen go bad,

i called dell, the monitor is about 5 years old and a led. to replace it they want over 900 bucks. so after i stopped laughing i said no. the way they had me check it was a good idea. they had me shut down the computer and the monitor. then disconnect everything from the monitor and turn it back on. when i did that a message shows up saying no dmi connection on the screen and it moves around like a screen saver. when it is on the left side of the screen is is bright and clear, when it gets to the right side, it gets all fuzzy and yucky, and they pay them nothing in india for knowing how to do that. so tomorrow i go buy another one at staples

Yup! 900 seems a bit high. You might also give Best Buy or Office Depot a look to see if they can beat Staples.
