Any Videos on Seal Floorboards install

Expecting some Seal Floorboards to arrive any day now been searching post on "seal floorboards" looking at install options.

I know this might sound stupid but I really do have issues with which end to hold a screw driver, but looking at the installation instructions I thought I would give it ago.

There is mention of the break being in a different position and the need to raise it up a little, now I'm worried, hate to not have the break peddle right.

Anyone know of an install video for dummies.

I don't have a video, but I did this install last week.

The only thing that you do to the brake pedal, at least on my RT, was remove two bolts on the bottom of the pad, put two supplied nuts under the pad, install the supplied longer bolts to hold the nuts and pad in place.

Loosen the two passenger floorboards with an allen wrench and raise them as high in the adjustment groove as they will go.

Unscrew the two bolts on the bottom of each rider footpeg and remove the rubber pads.

Slide the the bracket for the rear Seal FloorBoard into the lowest position of each passenger floorboard slot. You might have to use a rubber mallet to get each bracket into the slot because the slots are tight.

Bolt the Seal Floorboards onto the footpeg locations and the rear brackets that are in the passenger floorboard slots. Make sure everything is secure and tighten the bolts. It will take 3 supplied torx bolts/nuts for each Seal Floorboard. It is recommended that you use blue loctite to help keep the bolts/nuts tight.

Lower the passenger floorboards back down to the lowest position to help hold the rear of the Seal Floorboards in place.

That summarizes the install. I don't think I missed anything. Good luck. It will only take you 30 minutes even having a hard time working with tools. :2thumbs:

Question, do you have to have the passenger floor boards all the way down?

My wife is very short, her feet only just touch the passenger floor boards now and there all the way up. One of the reasons for the Seal Floorboards is so she can use them as a step.

Install is very easy as above. Floorboards for passenger will be slightly higher when done with the installation.

If I can do it, you can--I have the same mechanical abilities you mentioned.

I sent John a message asking the same thing. He replied he was working on a solution to this issue. I'm looking forward to a resolution, as I would like to use the Sealboards, however my wife needs the passenger floorboards at the top of their adjustment.

I emailed John with my concerns this was his reply

'Your FloorBoards will probably arrive to day, maybe tomorrow. I have a number of customers in your situation. Go ahead and install them and set your passenger pegs where you want them. Others have without any problem. I would recommend that when installing the rear bracket, you do lower the pegs to make sure the bracket is in the proper space while tightening the bolts. Do it like you would a tire, tighten them all a bit at a time. When you have finished with the installation, set them where you want. If you have any problems let me now and we'll figure it out. Hope this helps.'

Fortunately for me, my wife is taller and can reach the Seal FloorBoards. We both use the Seal FloorBoards and I keep the passenger boards folded up.

If she wants to change her leg position, the passenger boards are always another option because they are still a couple of inches higher up than the Seal FloorBoards for a different footing postition. If there is a solution that allows the passenger boards to be moved up, I'll look into that option when it becomes available to allow the passenger boards more adjustment flexibility instead of resting only on the Seal FloorBoard bracket.

Help with Install of Seal Floorboards

Ok since all of you said how easy the install was I'm assuming I'm a mechanical dweeb. Here's what's happening:

1. When I removed the rubber pads from the pegs there was a heavy black metal piece underneath the peg that the bolts ran through. When trying to bolt on the floorboards, the new bolts provided are too short to go through the peg and the black metal piece; do I discard the black metal piece or get longer bolts?

2. When I set up the rear mount into the track for the passenger boards at the lowest setting, the seal bloards sit on the front pet at an angle, i.e. the board is parallel to the ground but the peg is angled about 20 degrees down toward the front of the bike; so the board doesnt sit flush on the peg (also makes getting the bolts tight very difficult). I raised the rear mount which fixes alot of the angle issue but having that rear mount floating at the middle of the track isnt what anyone else described they did.

3. Does the long part of the "L" bracket attach to the bike or the floorboard?

4. For the rear bracket, does the nut face out or the head of the bolt? THe instructions say, "Slip a 1 1/2" bolt and two 1" washers thru the passenger foot rest slot from the back." Seems logical that the bleck-headed bolt would fact out, but I'm not clear thats what the instuctions say to do.

5. One of the posts above talks about needing a rubber mallet to seat the rear bracket in the track...no idea what that post is referring to.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

The bolts are a bit to short, but I left the spacer in. I had to really push down the bolts from the top (they will eventually counter sink into the rubber)
2. I installed the bolt and two washers in from behind
5. One of the posts above talks about needing a rubber mallet to seat the rear bracket in the track...no idea what that post is referring to.
With the passenger foot rest all the way up I had no problem puttuing the bracket in.

Thanks for your suggestion--coupled with an email from John @ SB all went well and the install completed.
