Any thoughts on this Handlebar vibration/shake?

I drove my Spyder for the first time the other day on the interstate. Somewhere around 65-70 mph the handlebars vibrate noticeably. Not violently, just rapidly with enough movement that I noticed the bar and my hand vibrating. It's weird because I don't really feel it, and it goes away below 65, and slightly above this speed.

Is this light, rapid vibration normal or does it mean alignment? I do not see either front wheel bouncing on the road, and I have just over 600 miles on the Spyder if that makes any difference. I will be checking tire pressure when I get home.

Any thoughts?

My 2024 Spyder does not bounce or vibrate at freeway speeds.

Hopefully it's just a tire pressure issue.

Are the stock tires on it? I had the stock Kenda's on and I have had the fronts rebalanced 2 times add ride on the 3rd time. It would be fine for a bit but would come back. I change out the stock tires for Vredestein and now have no handle bar shake at all even at above highway speeds

Handlebar vibration indicates the Spyder has balance issues ..... a high speed SPIN balance may fix this ..... however if you still have Kenda tires it may not .... not un-common for Kenda's to be defective ..... good luck ....Mike :thumbup:

If it's a new event, it could be any of the above or possibly a cord separation issue.

Yeah. Spyder hand massage. I gave up trying to balance the Kenda tires on the 2012. On this one, just went straight to here….

The tire pressure was low, about 3-4 PSI each. I filled them up to the recommended 15psi/Front, 28psi/Rear. It was dark on the ride in this morning so hard to see if it made any difference.

It's a new (640 miles on the odometer) Spyder so yes, stock tires. If it's the OEM tires and the vibration is not harming anything, I may let it be until new tire time.

As long as defective doesn't mean "it will blow up on the road while riding", I wonder how one would prove they are defective and if warranty would cover new tires. :dontknow:

This does not sound good. Cord separation can be bad. I'm not currently in a position to replace tires on a possibility, I'll need to look into how to test and prove this stuff out.

Super interesting, I never knew such a thing exist. If its just "Crappy Kendra" tires, this may fix it. Its it's alignment or worse, then this would not work. Interesting concept to tire balance.

The service records supplied to me by the original owner showed that the OEM front tires were replaced by BRP because they were out of round. Owner complained because of shake in the front end. You could check yours by jacking a tire just off the floor and spin and see if that tire contacts the floor as it spins.

Get new tires you will be impressed with the way the bike responds and no more shake.

Yes def jack it up and see if the tires rotate round with no vertical runout. Take video of it. If not round try to get the dealer to replace under warranty, but be prepared to show receipts for the re-balance and video of the out of round. You could take it to a local tire shop that can test runout off the vehicle, if you think that gives you more ammo.

There are still some shops that do tire shaving so that might be an option if BRP/dealer wont do anything, but prolly cheaper just to get Vredsteins and be done with it:spyder2:
