• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any solutions for right foot heat?

Does anyone have a fairly simple solution to reduce the heat blast on the right foot area?
I live in Florida and its pretty hot here right now. I will be wrapping the exhaust pipes with the DEI pipe wrap kits I got for both my spyder and wife's spyder, (hers is the automatic and it runs even hotter than my SM5), so that should help with the left leg heat issue, but we still have the "I want to wear my crocs on certain days" issue to contend with, and just can't do that without cooking my right toes off.

:popcorn:thats where the hot air vents if you block it you well over heat all the time it vents on that side you could put a flange to push it down to the floor but I would live with it there is a vent cover there you can take off in summer put on in fall I took mine off and it blows the heat out away from my foot and runs cooler in trafic make shure fans are working .:lecturef_smilie:

Also, remember that Lamonster (and I) removed the two rear splash pans which made the engine run cooler. That may have an effect on the heat coming from the radiator but I can't say for sure that it does.

Riding in the hot desert now, my temp stays at the point that the thermostat opens, unless I'm climbing a grade. You don't seem to have many grades in FL so that might help you with the heat.

For more info on this look up Lamonster's thread on the splash pans.

what year is your bike? 2008's are missing (as my bike is) the right deflector shield. This was an upgrade they made on the 2009s. Living in Central CA where summers are mostly over 100 degrees, I agree that something serious must be done to prevent the 1st degree burn I received about 8 weeks ago when it was 106 here. It was over 130 degrees on the asphalt, riding through heavy city traffic just about melted my pants to my leg. I looked into buying the replacement parts (you need 2 parts) and it was almost $300.

Both of mine are 08's
Ron says they have done extensive testing with the $35 part and it is proven to reduce the heat by 20 degrees on the foot area. It's also a peel and stick on application, so would be an easy upgrade.

of course....at home, I am at work now. Send me a PM as a reminder and I will pull it off my refridgerator wish list. I also have a request into BRP to split the cost of this item as it was an obvious "fix" on the 2009 for a potentially dangerous issue. BRP rep said to make sure I wear heavy clothes for the trip to Hollywood but how can I look cool and comfy in black leather? (yes, I am bringing my own whip):p

How much?

How much pipe wrap does it take? 1" or 2" :dontknow:recommended?
Thx, Dick
