• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any of you made your own Radiator (grill) covers? Any pics/instructions?

It can't look worse than this crime scene I found after I removed my trunk. After witnessing this I put insect screen in front of the stock grilles. That works really well but I think your idea might be better.

Yeah it’s almost like this filter stuff is just stiff enough to kill the bugs but not splatter. They just fall to th bottom of the filter along with rocks and road debris. They work great for cheap and homemade sort of

Well I put the screens in, however in the process the darn thing stopped cranking. It started throwing a U0155 code, unit can not communicate with cluster. The stealership just called me and told me it’s ready for pickup. I’ll post another thread in the appropriate category. However, I may put that filter material that Rockdog mentioned behind the screens. That way I paint them once and the screen protects them…

Thanks for the update (which I did :) ) altho I can't say I 'like' the 'stopped cranking' bit!! :gaah: Please keep us informed?! ;)

Hey Rockdog... I liked your idea so much I went to Walmart and purchased the same filter material… made a template, cut out both sides and sprayed some silver paint on them. they are drying as I reply. I think they will stay in place, as the fit is snug but it may be a few days before I find out for sure. Thanks for the idea! :2thumbs:

I found that after a while, for some reason they shrink a little. Must be the heat from the radiator. That’s why I cut the coat hanger to hold it in.

That is a great idea, thank you. What do think about putting Velcro tape (one side of it?) to hold it in place instead of the wire?

I think that the heat from the radiator would probably just make it really sticky and fall off anyway.

The coat hanger trick is that you cut them just a bit longer than the opening of the plastic in there so that you can kind of wedge the filter in with the coat hanger piece behind the plastic, not actually wedged with the plastic, just behind the plastic so as it is wedged up against the stock radiator protective grill that is there already. The wire just makes it so easy to clean when you want to. I only hold it in with one wire across the whole thing, but you could put as many as you want on each side, and it would still function like it should.

I painted my screens black, so they wouldn’t be so noticed. Somebody said above that they did theirs in silver. Nobody has ever said anything about my screens, so to each their own - it’s all good

My bike is blue, found something close to your filter in blue, will just paint the wire to match. Might paint a black RT stencil on it too. Thanks again.
