• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

was just putting my mirrors on and broke the semi round plastic piece that holds the mirror to the top pin on the body of the bike. i was thinking that if someone was interested in making this mounting piece in metal it would be a good idea. i just ordered a few plastic ones but i guess i can't ride with one mirror this weekend. i will check my dealer tomorrow but i doubt he will have it, heck he doesn't even stock tires

i considered it but thought metal to plastic might not be good & cause more damage to mirrors

well i just guess if i keep playing with the bike adding stuff, things will start to brake sooner or later

Check out partshark.com
I broke one of those and order it from them. Cost me about $10 plus shipping.

I broke one so I made two metal ones out of large washers
Found washers with same size hole as the plastic one
Cut washers with dermal tool so that bottom of washer slid over stud and then when pushed down the hole was the right size to hold mirror
drilled 3 holes for screws to hold washer to plastic
Now mirrors are tight and do not shake all the time
Sorry I did not take any pictures but next time I take mirrors off I will take pictures

The plastic "pellets", as they are called by BRP are ridiculously expensive. $12.99 each. None of the dealers around me stock them. I keep a left & right hand one in my rear trunk at all times, and two more at home. I also zip tie the mirror's electrical connectors together. JT, where are you?

take and drill a small hole through the mirror hard plastic and in to the bike then just take a decking or sheet rock screw you will be up and riding again.

i can't believe it but my dealer had the part, i guess they have broken a few working on the bikes so they had them. someone needs to make a better way to mount the mirrors on the bike. we have enough smart people on here that i am sure someone can come up with a idea

OK

Well I was just about to ask you to send me your address, because I have made them in METAL ( of course ) but since you lucked out at the dealer you don't need mine :thumbup::thumbup:..........But I agree They really should be made of metal.........I sent a pair to Bob Denman a few months ago ----- what He did with them I don't have a clue :dontknow: :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:.........Maybe He doesn't either :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:........Mike

Replacing them with metal versions is a bad idea and will cost you more in the long run. With the clip in metal, the next weak link in the mount is the small screws and the plastic body of the mirror they thread in to.

So with a metal clip, the next time someone leans on your mirror in a parking lot you will be buying a $180 mirror rather than an $8 clip...

They are plastic and easily replaceable for a reason.

:agree:.....There are probably hundreds of people here if not thousands who have had their mirrors broken by those " Notorious Parking Lot LEANERS "........yea right :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:..............NOT..........Mike

On my snowblower: they called them "Shear Pins".
It's better to bust something cheap and easy to replace, than end up having to dig that much deeper into your pocketbook...

Thanks, JC!!

It doesn't take a malicious person to cause the damage; just someone walking by, and not paying attention... :yikes:
