Any Missouri Spyders?

:congrats:
I live in Blue Springs, MO. Ordered my SE5 (semi-automatic) silver Feb 29th from a dealer in Denver. There wasn't any dealer in KC at the time, but now there is. Which one did you use? I'll need to get service from one in KC. Glad to know someone else in the area. My wife and I have never ridden, but this thing seems just right for a little "open road".

I'm waiting, hoping, for early delivery.... My dealer has no word at all when the SE5 model will start to be released. But based on BRP website, I should be getting delivery by Sept 30th. I'm hoping for earlier in the summer.... What does your dealer say about your roadster.... I assume it is an SM5 (manual). There seems to be some roadsters not pre-sold trickling into dealers just for immediate sale...

Teacherbob here,
I ordered my Spyder from Steve(owner) at Reno's Yamaha. They are good people to deal with. My Silver Spyder is expected in around June 1st. They have a Yellow demo in stock that you can ride. If you call or stop by, tell them that Bob from PowerSports4Less sent you. Hope to see more Spyders cruising around the KC area in the next few months.

I ordered my yellow spyder from Reno's also. Dealt with Kenny, who seems very good to deal with. Delivery is promised by Aug 31st. I too hope for earlier date. Had the chance to purchase a unit out of Minnesota, but opted for local dealer. I'am 18 miles north of Columbia, so it's not real close, but what the heck. Perhaps we could all get together for a ride sometime this fall.

I am in Spring Hill KS. About 35 miles South of KC. I am originally from St.Louis so, I have lots of relatives there. When I get my Spyder and am comfortable enough riding it for a long ride, I'll probably make the trip to St.Louis and back. Maybe we can meet in Columbia and cruise together a bit. When you get ready to pick up your Spyder, you might want to come on over to my shop and I can help you pick out some riding gear. Check out my website. Powersports4less.com

Hello to both of you... Spring Hill and "North of Columbia".

I will check out Reno's for servicing and perhaps ride that demo. I've never seen a Spyder in person, so of course, never ridden one either. Did get my Motorcycle Permit, (passed with 100%). Perhaps they will let me take it around the parking lot? I've checked out your website and will be ordering some gear. If I get mine in September, then more cooler weather than hot will be my first experience with Spyder....

Would like to meet you all as well.... (I will definitely need to get comfortable with riding first before a long trip) But I hear that those of us who haven't ridden may adjust to Spyder earlier than those who have, (we have no bias to brake handles, leaning, etc...) Many say after 300 miles you get really excited about this roadster or you never will... I feel confident I will. Hope all of our Spyders come earlier than expected.... This wait is really killing me, as my in-laws are riders (H.D.) and are riding every weekend while I just wait.

Welcome Captainryder,

Reno's will let you take the test ride with your permit. It is about a 3 mile course they have laid out. I went twice....once before the order was placed, and again after the paperwork was finished. I have two Ski-Doo snowmobiles as well. The Spyder feels natural to me (kinda like a snowmobile on wheels).

Well boys I have 1000 plus miles on ole silver and I am as popular as the flavor of the month.
I like to go to Harley gatherings because of all the attention it receives.

Columbia is 100 miles from my house so we will get together.

A moon silver spyder lives near STL smile the wait is real bad.

Are you referring to yourself? The reason I ask is because we live in St Jacob, IL -- about 20 miles east of STL. I've ridden the Spyder to work (over near Lambert/St Louis I'ntl Airport) several times. I haven't seen another Spyder near here yet.

Regards,

Mark

I placed my order back in January. At the time they said it wouldn't be in until July 1st. Since then they have updated the delivery to June 1st. I think Can-Am is ramping up production and starting to get the Spyders to the dealers a little quicker. It has been a long 6 month wait. Reading the forum has helped get me through.

Hope you get your ride real quick. My wait has just begun. Maybe my Spyder will arrive early also. I have purchased the fog light kit and the tank protectors already. Wish Reno's would get in some of the Spyder jackets/pants, etc.
Let us know when your spyder arrives.

The Can-Am jackets and pants look cool, but I have lots of other gear available that will look better and perform flawlessly. I know it sounds like I am always tryng to hawk my business. It's just that I don't want to see people paying too much or getting inferior quality products.

Had a day in the sun and then in the rain.
Had a chance to participate in events at the war memorial in down town Saint Louis.
Even got to shake hands with the mayor. The group of riders are mostly Harley guys---and allot of good natured ribbing goes on. Today was no different- One of the Harley guys announced that I should be made to ride in the back of the group.
Before anything else was said I informed the group that the ride Capitan had already asked me to bring up the rear. Seems he wants me to pick up Harley parts and put them in my trunk until the days ride is over. Then they could be reclaimed.

As for the rain---it got heavy and the group pulled off the road and under an over pass.
Comments went to how wet everyone got in such a short time---then it was pointed out that I was not wet.
Thanks to the F1 and the Spyder

A really nice day

Smilingene,

Good to hear about the F1 Windshield by Marcel, I plan to order one. What do you think about pre-ordering one? According to Marcel, he asks questions about height and such, and perhaps I need to sit on the Spyder to give him good answers??? I've pre-ordered the backrest and backrack, the tank bag, and a 12 volt plug. My dealer should have these in-stock when my roadster comes in. Hopefully, the wait for SE5 model will be pushed up as well. The guys going to Valcourt were informed that SE5's would be available at the factory to see and ride! I hope that means they are producing.
As for Powersports for Less.. I plan to order some raingear... what do you recommend? My wife and I both.

I think the main things Marcel asks are how tall are you and how fast do you plan on going. From that info, he gets the profile of the F1 set for those specs. Then, after you install and try it out, you may need to reshape the top lip of the F1 to provide the optimal protection for yourself. Tweaking the F1 turned out to be easy for my wife as she just used two blow dryers to heat the top of the F1 and then she used an oven on the top edge to pull the lip farther forward. It's now perfectly set for her.

Powerstports4Less is a great place to do business with. I just got a set of saddlebags and a pair of riding pants from them. The prices were great and the service is outstanding.

Gene,

We own Spyder 2523 in St. Jacob, IL. Where in or near STL are you?

captainryder-I would recommend;FirstGear Rainman and Tourmaster Sentinel rain gear. you want to get nylon raingear because it breathes. The PVC gear is cheaper but, it is very hot.
