• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any ideas as to what is wrong with my spyder

Well I got the spyder back 1400 miles ago and I was riding my spyder when it started losing power. It seemed like it was hesitating before that happened. I thought it might bad gas, but I had put the gas in from the usual place 60 miles before. There had been no problems with gas and I topped it off with premium gas as someone suggested. It didn't make any difference. Even if you opened the throttle it still puttered along. There were no error messages and it didn't sound good. It is a stock engine with stock muffler and no add on's or any changes to the system since I got it back from the sprocket repair. A couple of weeks ago one person had said that when he was following me, he saw smoke when I shifted. Not sure if that means anything.

The service should have her inspected.
PS: what was wrong with your sprocket?

Sounds like it could be ignition problem.....Plugs, wires, coils, Fuel Filter, ECM....Start checking in that order...Good luck....

I had a bad spark plug wire act the same way, I know you said something about a sprocket repair, but did they also change your plugs??

Pull the the plugs and take a look at them, it should tell you a lot. Pull up any active fault codes on the display, too. While the Tupperware is off, look/listen for any jumping spark. Run some SeaFoam or another water dispersing additive through the fuel tank, just to rule out bad gas completely. If the plugs say you have fuel delivery problems, change the fuel filter first. Pinning these things down is a systematic process. You just have to be patient and track one possibility at a time.

Well I got the spyder back and it was the spark plug wire. It was arc'ing and causing the problem.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAD SUGGESTIONS AND FIXES!

Thanks Scotty, it was the spark plug wire. The mechanic also changed the spark plugs. Runs a lot better.

Able to get Western Service to actually cover the replacement of the spark plug wire. They weren't going to cover it originally because the don't work with independent dealers. but then they reconsidered when he sent them his business license. It was that or 175 miles to the closest dealer.

After rebuilt engine at 12,000, new sprocket at 19,000 and this I am thinking it may be time to trade it in for a blue 2010. :dontknow:

Trying to get photo's of the sprocket. No reason on why it failed.

The service should have her inspected.
