There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Any idea what this bracket is?

A Spyder Ryder gave this to my brother who gave it to me. It looks like it might be a backrest support bracket but I've no idea what for. My brother is no longer with us so I can't ask him who gave it to him.

This might be waaay off, but without any measurements or actual comparison, I'm really just guessing... :p buuut, following the lines of your supposition, I wonder if it could be a non-OEM backrest support bracket; maybe something someone's fab'bed up at home to change their Backrest angle? Do those 4 small dia holes match up with the holes on the underside of the seat pan? And if they do, would the upright bit slide into the cavity going up thru the seat foam from the pan/base toward the outlet hole in the seat cover at anywhere near the right angle for it to have anything to do with the Driver's Backrest? :dontknow:

Juuust takin' a punt on what it might be?! AFAI Can Recall, the OEM Backrest Bracket has a couple of bends in it to shape its profile to match the step in the seat pan below the Driver's Lumbar Support Ridge, and that one looks as tho it'd bridge flat across that step instead of bending to match the step's profile. Whatever, it certainly looks 'fabricated' by someone rather than being 'factory manufactured'?!

Innnterrresting, but not funny?? Anyone else with other ideas?? I'm happy to be edified...

In searching for Spyder accessories I didn't find any backrests that had a straight bar like this is. The pic doesn't show it clearly but there is a sleeve welded at the top for a pivot pin. Makes me think it is for some other brand of motorcycle. It looks to me much too factory like to be a home fab, unless the fabricator is a real professional. I believe it is powder coated.

If nobody comes up with an answer I'll just toss it into my "material resource pile for potential future projects"!

There was a recall on the 2020 Spyder RT. Something to do with the brake pedal needing some extra support.
It looks to be similar to the support bracket added to my 2020 RTL.
It's hard to tell without measurements.

I could be wrong.

Wild guess :CB antennae mount:dontknow: have seen some wild & seriously overrated on trucks. Thinking backrest would have a curve or least not straight 90, hopefully anyway.

Bingo!

When I was installing my Utopia backrest for my '18 RTL, I had to install a bracket that was very similar to that.

I'll give you half a BINGO! I thought it might be for a Utopia so based on your comment I searched the Utopia site. Man, there are an awful lot of variations of backrests there! But it appears to be the one they show in the installation instructions for a 2014 RT. It probably would fit through 2019 as I think the seats are the same. Only question is if it fits the Comfort seat. I'm guessing it would. I went looking for the Utopia backrest I had on my '05 Goldwing which I kept when I sold the GW. I must have tossed it, or given it away, or sold it at a rally as I can't find it.

So, if anyone has a Utopia backrest and wants to install it on a 2014 to 2019 RT and needs the bracket let me know. I'll make you a deal!
