There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Any 2016 F150 Owners?

The 2015 Ford F150 "Aluminum" truck has been on sale for almost a year. I am sure some on this board must own one by now.

I have two questions for 2015 F150 owners:

What body style (regular cab, crew cab, etc.) do you have, what engine do you have and what is your average gas mileage?

Also, what are your thoughts about the truck, pro and con, and especially the 'advantages' of aluminum?

Thanks in advance,
Joe T.

I love mine, I have a 2015 SuperCab FX4 2.7 Ecoboost.
If I can keep it out of boost as much as possible I can get 22 Hiway and 20 in town.
In town driving it in Sport mode, WOW it's quick! I get closer to 18.
The only difference I have come across was having to use aluminum screws and rivets when
I installed a subwoofer behind the rear seat. Galvanic corrosion concerns.
Hopefully I don't have to visit any bodyshops, but they do have to have special equipment and training for aluminum.

I've got a couple of clients that really love theirs. That 2.7 Eco-Boost engine just keeps putting smiles on their faces!

:yikes:

It WAS tough to watch...
But the difference in the cost to repair the aluminum bodywork?
I'll keep putting my aluminum in beer cans only!

Did you hear the cost to replace that tail light assembly ? Scary.
Bet that will be more expensive to insure.

Yeah, the tail light assembly for the upper end models with the back up sensors is expensive,
without the sensors they are about the same as any other assembly.
While there are many factors that determine insurance costs, my new F150 was only about $50/6 mos
more than my 07 Tacoma.

Land Rover has been doing aluminium for quite some time now. Body repairs really aren't any more difficult, just different in same ways.
Its a good change for Ford IMHO.

The back up sensors are not in the tail light. I just replaced one about a month ago. It was just overy a hundred bucks.

Not too big a difference. Notice they also said that Ford would not just sell the lens, you had to buy the whole assembly.

You are correct, the backup sensors are on the rear bumper, the ones in the taillight are the Blind Spot Sensors.

Hmm, my 2002 F250 just keeps rolling along. I get 18mpg around town no problem and 20 on the open road. I have thought several times about replacing it but sticker prices in the 65 to 70k range make it obvious that maintenance is far cheaper. With the updates I have done over the years, there is little advantage to replace and LOTS more money in initial cost, repairs and maintenance costs. The pricing has just gotten ridiculous. Well over 2x what I paid for this truck for no real world benefits. Just tighter emissions compliance. I get asked if its for sale all the time.

I do wish Chevy would put the LT4 engine in a hot rod truck model. I might have a hard time not going there. Ford has little of any performance capability now so nothing in the pipeline.

I dont have a 2015 F150 though, so i dont have the blind spot sensors. Mine is a 2013 Lariot. I backed up into a tree not long ago and the back up sensors failed to signal it was there. It was not one of my proudest moments BTW.
