Antifreeze is leaking - help

Ok I need your help again. I have antifreeze leaking from the bottom of my 2010. Had it in the shop last week for new muffler (covered under warranty) and new tires. Had no leak before. Just called the shop to ask if they did anything to the antifreeze, service manager said no. Asked about how they left the bike, he said not done on a left, use jacks.

My question is has anyone else had this problem or know what may be causing it. I'm just about in tears over this. My bike will be out of warranty the 22nd of January.

:(

Roger is correct. Many have had this leak. I may be overkilling it but I removed the little clamp and replaced it with a more robust one. Here is a pic from another post of what you are looking for. It seems a lot of people have this show up when the weather turns colder.

Had that same leak [at the clamp] May of 08, you would think by now BRP would have used a better clamp at that spot, And by the way thats the only worm clamp on the hose's, all the other's are oetiker.

Took my 2012 RT in for the 600 mile oil change Friday.
Also have a coolent leak that just started a week ago.
Also a bad viberation that started around 475-500 miles.
Talked with the dealer about the viberation when it started
& they said the drive belt needed adjusting & they would take
care of it at the 600 mile service. Upon pickup the shop man
told me the belt was out of alinement a small amount & it also
had to be tightened. On the leak he said that he could not find
where the coolent was leaking just by sight. When i asked if he
did a pressure check the guy looked at me as if he never heard of
a pressure check before. Well this morning when i checked sure enough
i still have a leak. Thanks for the tip on the clamp, will check that myself.
After leaving the dealer & doing a 20-25 mile ride the viberation is returning.
The shop guy did say something about a lot of the 2011 models they sold
the rear wheel keeps getting out on alinement ( pulling forward on one side)
& this causes the belt to viberate. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks
Dan

???

Sounds like BS from the service guy. Some of those guys have more imagination than my grandkids. I thought I had posted on this, if so, disregard the short par below.
My bike developed a coolant leak a week ago and I had it in three times before the water pump was found to be the problem. They did two different pressure checks and no leaks. I rode it home and it leaked from gettin "warmed up all over" and my 130 mph dash up I-75. No, not quite, but I hustled to make it leak, if it ever would. 8,000 rpms scares me. I'm an old round motor pilot and they are less than 3,000 (normally). They ordered the water pump, in 12 pieces, per the warranty guy they report to. 11 parts are in and I'm waiting impatiently. It's a tiny leak, but I'm sticking close to home.

Good luck:banghead:

Addendum:
After the parts came in, and they had time, it took 3 days (8 hours of actual technician time, due to other work in progress) to get to, take apart and repair the water pump. The cause was a little tiny oil seal (that's what they called it) that was leaking. So, that and a couple regular seals and they put it all together and it leaks no more. Under warranty, but a pain due to troubleshooting, parts delay (only a week, but the parts place is in Atlanta, I was told,) 5 trips to the dealer 90 miles round trip each and finally the "repair" was done over 3 days instead of the two I was told it'd take. But that's almost ok because it is fixed. I have to congratulate BRP for getting so much "stuff" in such a small area and making it so time consuming to troubleshoot, repair and put back together. But it all works and the bike is a joy to ride.

Oetiker clamps are not easily tightened. The worm clamps are owner serviceable. Perhaps that was so they could more easily address chronic leakage here. :dontknow:

This morning my hubby went out to my :spyder2: and tighten the clamp up around the hose. He said it was very loss. It was late wet around the hose. Hope this will fix my problem.

You guys can be so helpful in keeping my tears away. :)

Take your spyder right back to the dealer and have them record the date you brought your spyder in with the leaking antifreeze. if they cannot work on it before your warranty runs out at least you still should be covered under warranty for this fix. I agree with others it could be a loose hose clamp.

I was working on my 2011 RT this weekend and noticed a coolant leak after pushing it into the heated portion of my shop. I noticed this thread about leaking coolant, and sure enough the same hose clamp was loose on mine and I could see where the coolant was leaking from this hose. It's too cold for riding here in Michigan so I won't know if this solved the problem until spring, but I think it was just the loose clamp.

Thanks to my fellow spyder lovers for your help!

Hey Mike!
"the heated portion of my shop"...you just became my best friend!!!

I have actually been riding the last couple of days since we have this un-January weather!

Hey Mike!

How's it goin'? This weather the last couple days has been unseasonably warm! Unfortunately I haven't had time to ride during the day when it's been warmer out. I put the Spydie away the end of November, and I sure got the itch to get out and ride! I do like it to be warmer though.....oh well! Everyday is one day closer to the new riding season!! :ohyea:

Hope all is well!

The other Mike in Lansing!!

I just had a few repairs done on my 2010 RTS.. one of them was a coolant leak also. I had it in last winter for the same thing and they said they tightened the clamp, but the leaking continued. This time I got under it myself in my garage and after removing both splash panels from underneath, I found the temp. sender was the leaking culprit. Hopefully, that will do it for the leaks. The other repairs were for the tach (replaced the cluster) and the shift sensor intermittently thinking it was in reverse and forcing the processor into limp mode. They changed the angle sensor to fix that. My warranty is up in April, so I'll be happy if I'm done with any issues for awhile. This vehicle is not without its quirks. No more first-year production vehicles for me... learned my lesson. Thankfully, it never stranded us anywhere... just nuisance stuff.

Coolant Leak

Mine is currently in the shop for the second time for a coolant leak.

First time, they claimed the leak was probably from the overflow tube and I probably overfilled the reservoir (even though I know I did not). They could not find any leaks even after taking for a ride to get temp up.

Brought home after an hour ride from shop and found the leak still there the next morning so I had to bring back.

This time they spent more time looking over and found there was a hole or slice that happened near one of the clamps. (at least they indicated something like that) was not sure what specifically it was, just that they had to order a part.

Still waiting for call that it is ready. Fortunately, weather not great for riding.
It been there for 2 weeks.
