• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anti freeze leak

I have found a small leak in my garage where my spyder is parked. I brought it back to the dealer and I was told everything was fine. I don't think this should be happening on a new 2013 RTS? Have any of you had this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Little checking..!!

start with the antifreeze tank, the radiator cap, the radiator hoses and the waterpump. If it is or was the cap or hose they may have tighten them so your problem is gone. If not tighten them, radiator cap to the second detent and radiator hose with the adjustable clamp till tight. If it comes from the water pump area check with the dealer...

Obviously it isn't fine. I'd have the dealer look again. Before that you might want to check that the coolant cap is turned all the way to the second detent. The second most common source of leaks is the single coolant hose that has screw clamps (the rest are Oetiker clamps). A couple of turns on the clamp screws is often the cure. Third most common is leaks at the water pump shaft. There is a service bulletin regarding this probllem. If you have the dealer take another try at it, make sure your he has covered all of these sources, plus the rest of the hoses, and the hose adapter.

Do you have to remove any panels to get to the coolant cap?

I must be blind. I just don't see it......:dontknow:

I have the same issue. I am keeping a eye on till the weather gets warmer. I have not called the dealer about yet. I want to find the problem first so when and if I bring it to the dealer I can tell them where the leak is coming from. 2013 RT-S Bellmore, NY

Open the front trunk, and remove the right (as you sit on the Spyder) access panel at the top. You can see the panel from there...but it is much easier to access it if you remove the overlying panel. If you have skinny hands and a high pain tolerance you can get it through the access panel, however.

My anti-freeze leak fixed--

I had posted to this forum a while back that I had also a antifreeze leak. I took my Spyder to Pitbull Powersports and had them look at the situation and to also check the roadster over very well.

They found that the hose clamp on the antifreeze had come loose. Said it was just a crimp clamp and there are hundreds of them on the Spyders and that is what they replaced it with but it is all good to go now. I asked if a worm gear clamp would be better. They didn't think so.

No real reason for it to have done what it did and no telling if it will occur again down the road a ways or not or what clamp will be next.

They also tightened up my belt--apparently between my 600 mile service and the 2700 miles I got a really loose belt!

They also fixed my rear handgrip heaters--apparently those were never connected up when the bike was made. (go firgure that one out)

That's been my experience with my anti-freeze leak on my 2012 RTS-SE5. Hopefully I am good to go for a long time to come.

OH- and they also gave me my new gas cap too--that I never got! So maybe that will help too with boiling gas this summer--will see. May end up wrapping my pipes and moving my catalytic converter down lower! Pitbull is the place!

Sounds like you have a very good dealer! Im in NY (Long Island) so so far I am not overly impressed with the local dealers. How my dealer had the bike for 4 days and did not find anything is unreal. Sounds like no one did anything. I ride it back home, put a pan under the bike and there it was anti freeze! I will take it back as it gets warmer. Thanks everyone for the advice.

Twice now I noticed a small puddle of Antifreeze in the Garage but only when I let my 2013 RTL idles for a while. Now that it is cold I let her sit and warm up before I go out for a ride. Did 50 miles last Sunday and when I came back there was that puddle. After I parked and checked back 2 hours later not a drop. I need to take it to the dealer and have the turn signal switch replaced (sticking) I'll have him check for a leak.

Last week I had the turn signal switch replaced and they actually found the leak, it was the the cooling system temperature sending unit. All set now for Spyderfest, I hope.

Double checked that. Tightened a few screws and secured the two small inspection panels with fishing line leaders.
