• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anthony, Spell check is kind of wonky.

I am a horrible speller.

In the past you clicked the word and a red box with choices appeared.

When I do this now, the red box appears and immediately goes away. It does this each time I select a misspelled word.

Testing

Spageti

This time it immediately flashed and read no replacements found, then vanished. The flash is maybe 1/4 of a second.

Would be way cool if it pointed out misspelled words as opposed to me needing to click them and check. If possible.

When I need to make sure something I type is correct, I put it in a Word document first. I then do a spelling check there and once corrected, copy and paste it here. I know that seems like a lot of work, but it's more efficient than clicking on one word at a time.

I only click the words I suspect may be wrong, not every word. No plans to make posts in Word then copy and paste. I only do that for for EBay ads.

Anthony, I did the same Spagetti test on another site I frequently visit.

They use XEN Foro software.

Not debating that this sites software does not have a spell check, I believe you, however the other site, simply click the word you question, and a shaded red box hovers above the word you question / clicked on. There the box with suggested replacements, what happens here now, is the red box appears in an instant and then disappears. This happens in under 1 second.

I run Firefox. Do you still suspect this to be a Firefox issue?

I dont have an ipad anymore to test with, but definitely could be an issue with ipad & not FF itself.

Does it work properly if you go to the full editor by click "Go Advanced" @PMK

Went to Go Advanced, still happens there too.

Noticed something else, unrelated, the cursor positions prior to quotes not after / under quotes which I believe it did previously.

If i quote you, the cursor goes under the quoted text as it should.

Spagetti

Testing with FF on desktop, right click of the word brings up a drop menu with spaghetti in the list, works as it should.

Laptop fired up, will check on there as you did. Laptop runs FF also. Will report back.

Laptop underscores with the wavy red line, making it a no brainer it is spelled wrong.

Accomplishing next test you asked about.

PM’d test was the same with instant flash with correct Spaghetti spelling then gone.

Just odd, maybe it is a VB / Apple type problem.

As a self admitted bad speller, I can shrug off any spellcheck cops on here...

Do not waste the time on it, likely one of those things VB will resolve at some point.

No, Vb wont resolve it, this is the LAST version of vb 4 & its been EOL for a year now.

Chk your PM

Thanks for going the extra effort in resolving this. Sometimes, as we know, it is beyond what is capable at this level. No big deal, gives me a reason to spell words better...
