Antenna removal

RE: Locktite The original fix (2010) called for locktite and a lock washer. When I got my replacement antenna, I replaced it myself using the above proceedure as recommended. I did not have any problem with radio reception--so I must have got the locktite amount right.

When I purchased my new 2011--the antenna was also loose. Bad, Bad Dealer :joke:. I did the same fix without any problem with radio reception.

I feel like I am now ready for any problems with the antenna. I even have my WalMart Shortee available for backup.

I do check the tightness every once in a while--so far, so good.

antenna tool

mine broke after putting the cover on about the third time.I found a tool that came with an old gmc truck I had that was made to remove antennas, that came with the truck,it works great.check your local auto dealer for one,Its just a little plastic t-handle socket that slides over the antenna.

Mine's on there good too. If I have to take it off, I'll probably take the whole block out so I can get a better grip. I think someone grabbed the gorilla glue instead of the locktite.

What tool (or hammer) do you use to remove the antennas on the RT. I can't get a wrench on the nut base and not sure if it would work if i used a set of vise grips/pliers. :dontknow::helpsmilie::gaah::cus:

Park it inside your garage close to your garage door. Close garage door and one of the cross-members of the door will catch the tip of the antennae ... bend it way down and snap it right off for you.

Can't say the 'garage' was the cause but the enclosed trailer did mine in 2x...1st was covered under warranty as the top was splintered. The second, well,then I realized the cause and figured it would be a simple fix...:lecturef_smilie: not! Broke the replacement in the block and then played havoc removing tupperware to get the block out. Once I did and tapped the broken piece out of the block, the shorty was installed and seems to work fine. No more splinters, but a little less reception than original.

Radio Antenna removal

I've always found if you slide the rubber boot up the whip and use a 7mm open end wrench that my whip comes off very easily........
But I recently bought an outside storage cover from Can Am it has a small hole for the whip to fit through... be aware it seems BRP has a number of vends making these covers for them.

You Be Right!

I parked too close to my garage door and my antenna was sheared last week. It's not much of a loss for me since I seldom attempt to listen to my awful audio. I sometimes increase the volume from zero to non-zero while sitting at a traffic signal, but that's it.

Most antennas on the RT remove themselves nojoke

7mm deep wall socket. drop it down over the ant. use a vise grip on the socket and gently give it a good nudge to loosen it. there is so much locktite, it is difficult to remove. this will keep you from damaging the plastic and breaking the ant connection.
