• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another way to tow?

Saw this and it got me thinking

Trike tow bar system

Keeps the drive wheel off the ground... strap the handlebars to keep the wheels straight...

Not sure it can support the width of the rear wheel. And you'd smash your fender without modification.

And if you lift it up too much the frunk will scrape the ground.

But conceptually would this work or will you have a wild Spyder flailing around behind you?

Would be nice to have something to tow it to the shop that didn't take up so much space when not being used.

Neat idea, but that system relys on that front wheel turning as you go around corners and such. With our back wheel up on it, I dont think you could get the right mechanics if the steering was strapped straight.

Why tow when you can RYDE! :2thumbs:
Unfortunately there's times it's not safe to ryde it an hour to the dealer.

One example: my headlights failed... well... all my lights in the front failed due to an installation error from a former dealer mechanic which will go nameless(!!)

Well... not real safe to ryde without signals in front, but there's always hand signals... and headlights are law here... but if noone notices...

Then it decided to rain for 6 days straight. In the rain with no lights was kinda... stupid ;) These aren't country roads. And my green spyder was suddenly invisible. But I got there ok and got it fixed up.

If I had a less risky way to do it I would... but I didn't so... :doorag:

I could see myself getting into a situation far more dangerous.

Or I could just get a regular light trailer to stuck behind my Subaru :crackpipe:

Or you could purchase the BEST warranty, and have road service.

I've been planing to fab something like that hitch. But wider for the back wheel. And used tie down straps. I'll post pictures in a few weeks.

I have BEST but...

I dunno, has anyone actually used it? I'm sure it's like most roadside assistance... they make it so inconvenient that you never want to do it again.

Don't get me wrong, I get stuck in the middle of nowhere and I'll call them up. But from my driveway to the dealer?

This leads me to my second Spyderific idea...

Buddy Tow!

How to safely tow one Spyder behind another Spyder!

Yeah! ... well... maybe not safely but...

Not sure where to hook it to the back...

Right... crackpipe again. I gotta lay off the caffeine.

Have used the BEST warranty twice to have my spyder towed to the dealer. The people have been great -- only question was - "Are you in a safe place?" Tow trucks have always arrived as promised and never have seen a bill. I highly recommend the BEST warranty - if for nothing else "Peace of Mind".

I'm also trying to come up

with a towing option... we are going to CA this winter in the truck and want to bring the 'Bird... I'll be watching and will post what I come up with. I'm starting with a home made trailer that I used to tow behind my Harley... low and small... we'll see soon... Glenn:2thumbs::doorag::spyder2:
