Another Sunday in Upstate New York

It is spring in Upstate NY, the days are in the mid 30's the nights are in the teens, and the sap is running in the trees. I will be riding by mid-week when the roads are dry, but there will still be snow in the fields. That is one thing I love about NY though, you get all 4 seasons. Sure I lose a few months of spyder tyme each year, but my snowmobile needs to make some miles too. I find that it is never "too hot" to ryde either. The spring and the fall work out quite well here, the tempscan get low enough to keep the bugs away, but when the sun shines on you it feels so nice and warm. I have winding roads, mountains, valleys, waterfalls, streams, farms, forests, and fields to look at as I cruise around. I get to see even more of the scenery, the most beautiful parts IMHO, when I ride my snowmobile through the back woods and back roads of my area. I guess what I am saying is that; while I am suffering from PMS (parked Motorcycle Syndrome) I am getting to do something most people never get the chance to, I am seeing the usefulness of winter in Upstate New York (AKA the real NY).

I'm itching to break mine out for real also; I just like to wait for a couple of real good "toad-strangler" rainstorms to wash all of the road salt out of the way first.

i did not have a roadster when we lived in the area. Can still enjoy some of it but have to drive aways to do it. Now how can that be a bad thing, I'm on our :spyder2:

:agree: x 2 on the rain. don't want that salt creeping into areas I can't get to with wash cloth and hose!

LAST RIDE

Yesterday morning we took the sled out for a while. Good snow for a ride. Pullled the Yamaha in the garage and Summerized the engine & fuel system. That should be it for the sled, now when the weather & roads are good it's SPYDER TYME.

The last winter I was in New York, we had 15 feet of snow by Christmas, and kept it going till we got 4 inches on Memorial Day.

Still waiting here also. Tomorrow, I will snowblow the driveway--hopefully for the last time. Two plus inches and staying in the 20's instead of the high 30's predicted.

:shocked: I just realized something...
I've only got three weekends left to get my bike to the dealers for servicing before heading out to SpyderFest!
...And one is them is filled up with Easter! :yikes:

Bob, I'm taking Kris' in tomorrow for service. Oddly, we can't remember when the last service was :banghead:. The dealer just switched to a new computer program and wasn't able to pull it up.

I haven't taken the RT out yet this season--still hibernating. But I have been riding my "winter beater"--KLR 650. Was out for about 100 miles yesterday--not too bad--37 degrees. Now if more of the salt got off the road I'd take the RT out--but I just don't want to it through all that junk still on the road. maybe soon??? ray:

I had to take mine out for the road test and have since decided I might as well just ride. I rode down to my EMT course last night and the weather was perfect. The roads are not snow covered, so I am gonna ride. Just gonna have to wash it more often. I am winterizing my sleds today, kinda sad but not nearly as bad as it was before the spyder moved in. If I did not have a sick kid at home today I would probably have gone for a ride. I really like riding this time of year: no bugs, no sweat, and people look at you like you are crazy (which is a correct assumption in my case)

We do. But neither of us can find the paperwork for the last service on hers. :banghead:
