• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another Smugglers Trunk Question

My trunk came today! Does it just pretty much sit on the bike? The back seat has two bars that slide under the front one and then locked in with a key. The smugglers again slides under the front seat, but then just clicks in...is that correct? :dontknow: I was hoping it would lock in like the back seat did, but mostly I just want to make sure I have it on right and it is secure!

Pictures of Trunk...coming soon...

Don't know anything about the Smuggler trunk.

But how about some pictures!!!???

I'll put some up...but my bike is....err....rather naked at the moment....working on various things trying to get it ready for spring!

You may want to send Lamont a PM, in case he doesn't see this thread. He should be able to confirm whether you installed it correctly or not.

Thanks!

Thanks! I think the Corbin stuff looks great, but it's expensive! I hope once I get it all put together it will look even better. I was surprised what all I could fit in the trunk.

Your right!

I was thinking about that actually, but usually he is on top of most of the threads so I'll wait a day or so!

It just slides into the front seat and locks into the pin on the rear. You might want to protect the little rear fender that it sits on because it will rub the paint raw unless they changed things.

Thanks for that info!

Any suggestions on what to use to protect it? I have the phantom panels, so I'm guessing it would scratch it! Like maybe the little black felt pads that goes under furniture or something?

That 3M clear cover works pretty good. Just need something to keep it from rubbing paint on paint. Mine is messed up now but you can't see it till I pull the trunk off.

Lamonster is correct - you should get some of the 3M protective vinyl. I thought that furniture felt pads would do the trick, but the constant rubbing from vibration causes little wear marks visible when you take the trunk off.

Felt pad plus 3M?:D

You might think that Corbin would put a piece of the 50 cent 3M material in with the kit....I mean its not like its a cheap trunk??? For the money I'd think they would have redesigned the area where it rubs or at least put it in the kit. :yikes:

OMG

Are you ready for this????? :agree::D

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yikes: Are you ill? :joke:

It is rather expensive to have to then modify it so it doesn't damage the tail! No changes, it will still rub! I also thought about putting some clear caulk on the smuggler. I could easily remove it and it's flexible...I have that, I don't have the 3M tape.

It's a bit late, since you already received it, but perhaps Lamont could swing by there while in Daytona and show them the type of damage it causes. If they see it first hand they may be able to make a minor change to the design to benefit other owners in the future. :dontknow:

Just installed my Smuggler trunk. Hadn't started the bike but when I did I got an error -- "Seat switch defective". I've called Corbin but everyone's out to lunch!!

One piece of installation doc says that the seat switch is not used because, of course, no one is going to sit there.

I must be getting an error because the Seat Switch is unplugged (I removed the Corbin passenger seat to install the Smuggler).

Turning the bike off and on doesn't stop the scrolling error.

Suggestions?

Mine did the same, it is because it's unplugged.

The switch has to be plugged in even though it's not being used.
