• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Another Shifting Question

I have a problem, when the bike is cold (first time in the morning use) and I let it warm for a few minutes and then when I put the bike in reverse the bike does goes on reverse without a problem, the problem is when I go and shift paddle to the first gear, it takes me a few tries (4-5 times) paddle shifting to 1st gear until it take the gear. This only happens when the bike is cold or when I ride to the store, pull the key off the bike and start the bike after 30-45 minutes. BTW the shifting of gears is perfect, no issues at all after I start riding. I did check the oil level and it is good. The only issue is when the bike is cold? Any ideas, suggestions.:banghead:

From your signature the age of your Spyder says you should be banging on the dealer's service door.

You are correct about taking it to the dealer, but I am hoping not to leave my bike for 2 weeks for our great (not) service department. I have currently 2200 miles if I can wait for the 3K first service, then that will be a better option. I do understand that if this part fails on me then I will have to call the tow truck. :(

Maybe it's just taking a while to get the oil pressure up, and the oil happily doing it's thing? :dontknow:
Mine shifts a bit differently at start-up; but nothing like yours.

Shifting

:agree: Mine is in gear as soon as the idle speed settles down; less than 10 seconds.

I was having trouble when first cold about stalling when shifting into reverse or 1st, reverse was always a problem even warm unless I shifted into 1st, then to reverse. I read on here about a BUDs update that was supposed to cure that issue. I just had it in for 2nd service and they did 2 BUDS updates, one to the ECM and one for the Transmission Control Module, that cured my shifting problem and in fact improved shifting overall, so be sure to ask about that when you do your service and see if yours needs the updates.

I will back up tonight my bike and when I leave tomorrow I will see if I can pull forward in 1st gear without issues. The dealer told me if I can deal with the annoyance until my 3000 miles service then they can check that issue at the same time without extra downtime. I will let you guys know. :opps:

Try holding the paddle a bit longer when making the shift from R to 1. Same thing happens with me from time to time. I always back out of my garage/driveway--then on to first.

On my '14 Se6 I have to have my foot on the brake to shift into reverse or 1st.

A THOUGHT ON THIS

When cold My RT shifts louder, but always shifts.....When I bought it I had a problem with the computer telling the transmission to shift itself into neutral after shutoff, so I ALWAYS shift into neutral before I shut it off.....no issues with this anymore...............Are making forceful shifts with the paddle ????......................Mike
