• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

left my bike for 2 week at Matthews in NC for repairs to my panels and squeal from rear of bike and intercom system not working from driver to passenger well took bike out today the first time since I got it back and guess what another sample of poor service the intercom system still don't work they say the squeal is just common brakes on every bike ? so all they really did was tighten the panels in two weeks sitting at the dealer and now I,ll need to drop it off again and hope its not another two or more weeks or I,ll have to cancel my Maggy Valley trip and loose my deposits on the hotel rooms

Sorry but if I were you and had the luck that you have I would for sure recommend staying indoors away from the windows? :dontknow: :dontknow:

Doesn't the dealer take appointments? I have never had my Spyder in the shop for 2 weeks not even when they had to order a part. I make an appointment and they work on it. This has been my experience both in Michigan and now in Nevada.

I would wait until after Maggie Valley to take it back or tell them that you can not leave it that you will wait for them to work on it.

Both my ST and my RT squeal from every brake pad on them. Sometimes it is really bad and other times its not as noticeable. I have the red goo to put on the back of the pads and I know that they have retainer clips that puts pressure on them to keep them from vibrating. I just ignore it and don't use my brakes that much. Im just happy they run well and they don't dart around on the road.;)

SQUEALING BRAKES

In years past when my Cage brakes squealed I would Bevel the leading edge of the brake shoe or pad. Most of the time this elevated the problem for me. I think with the spyder, this may also be tried to see if it elevates the squealing brakes. I was told by a break and wheel shop the Squeal is from vibration in the brake pad or shoe caused by the sharp angle (90 deg) of the pad or shoe coming in contact with the drum or rotor.

Maybe one of you handy mechanics out there with this Squeal problem can try this and report back here??

I would but since I am a half a world away from my Roadster and its breaks are fine. If they ever do start squealing when I get back, that will be for first thing I do.

Really..!!!

Two weeks to do or not do work is way too long. Appointments are the best. Testing to see if the work was done before you leave (if possible) is a must. Too many of us live a great distance from the dealers to be going back next day. I always call and state I will be waiting so if they need parts order them before they give me a date. We use scala G9 so no help to you there and our brakes don't make any noises, well a click when brakes applied first time changing directions. Good luck may need a new dealer...!! :dontknow:

If its not too far from your house to Taylorsville NC dealer, check with him. Met and talked with him at the Intl Show in Charlotte and was impressed with his interest in getting with me to solve any problems that might arise. I have been well taken care of by Winston-Salem Honda on short notice and while I waited. Taylorsville is too far for me to want to go, but suggest you give thim a call.

Squealing from the rear can be due to several things. If it sounds off when backing, but the sound disappears when you touch the brakes, the pads are vibrating in the caliper. Clean brakes, the latest pads, and sometimes CRC Disc Brake Quiet can help. If it sounds off when applying the brakes, it is more likely dirty brakes and/or glazed pads. Try several hard stops from 45-50 mph, or have the pads sanded to remove the glaze, or replaced. Proper break-in of the brakes Helps prevent this malady. If the noise occurs either when moving forward or backward or sometimes both, and remains when the brakes are applied, it is probably the belt squealing on the sprocket flanges. BRP has a service bulletin addressing this issue.
