There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Those guys and gals, that have a Russell daylong seat on a 15 RT-S and if your a tall person please respond . I am crapped when riding the Rt and want to stretch a bit more when riding so help.. thanks

We have a RDL seat on our 2014 RTL, but only few hundred miles on her. But we had an RDL seat on our Goldwing trike for about 35000 miles and loved it. It truly is an excellent seat.

Russel Daylong vs. Comfort Seat??

I've been wondering the same thing.

I think that the BRP Comfort seat sets you back more than any other non-custom seat on the market, including the Ultimate Tall Boy I looked at. I've often wondered if I could get even more leg room from a fully custom seat. So I'll be anxious to hear if anyone has some hands-on comparisons between the Comfort seat and the RDL for tall riders.

Rob, you need to email Daylong direct and ask them how much extra room you can get out of the stock Spyder seat. They are often restricted by the shape of the seat pan, the shape of the rider and also how much passenger room you need to leave. Also, if you move the seat back more than an inch or so, you will probably need to get one of Russell's backrests rather than stock.

Mossess, it might help if you could explain exactly what issue you are trying to resolve here. I only say that as you have already had several tall RDL riders respond on your other thread, so it's hard to see just what you are after with this post. :dontknow:

Sorry to hear you have to crap when riding your RT.;)

I am short, so didn't need extra space, but I got them to give my wife a little space by thinning the passenger backrest a bit. This helped her comfort a lot. She hasn't complained about inadequate room at all with the RDL. They will work with you and make you a comfortable seat.

My RDL seat also raised my siting position a little lengthening my leg room to the floorboards. I had to raise the passenger floorboards for my wife to be comfortable.
So not only did I get to move back about 1 inch, I also am setting higher giving me in affect much more legroom.

You have to send in RDL a pic of you sitting in the bike in your normal siting position, your height, your inseam, and your weight.

It is s true custom seat.

I had them move me back as far they could and still have room for my wife. I'm still closer to the bars than I like but it's much better. If you don't ride two up then have it built anyway you like. They have a picture in their office of a guy on a wing that sits on the rear seat. He must be a seven footer.

The Ultimate Tallboy sets you 1.5" farther back, and the Airhawk can be used to raise you a bit - maybe 3/4". My wife is a small woman, but I installed the Ultimate rear backrest because it gives perhaps another inch for the rear passenger.

If you go RDL, I'm not sure how far back they can move the front seat. You might try to find someone on this site with an older (perhaps torn) Ultimate seat or BRP Comfort seat so you're starting with a pan with more depth.

Black seat w/red stitching

I recently purchased a 2015 RT-S "Special Series" red/black. The seat is black with red stitching. I too have the same issue and would like to move back some to give my legs more room. Especially to get to the brake pedal. I have read thru many of your posts and opinions and am still deciding. The question I have can you get the comfort seat and drivers backrest in black w/red stitching so to match the passenger backrest? I have checked with a couple of dealers and no luck so far.

Good idea, but I wonder if the pans are actually different. :dontknow:

I got my Spyder with a regular seat and then bought the Comfort seat. I've always been under the impression that the pan was the same and it was the contour of the foam - they way it was molded - that gave you more room on the comfort seat. That supposition was further strengthened when I had to get a longer bracket to attached my Utopia backrest to the same spot on the pan (they originally sent me the wrong one). But that said, I've never actually turned the two seats upside down and compared them side by side. Does anyone know for sure if the two pans are the same or different?

seats

My RT came with ultra seat which I didn't like. I'm 6ft 1in tall. The stock seat gave me no room at all, just put 1300 MLS on a comfort seat with no problems

Vendor

I just spoke to a rep at Russell Daylong and they can match the stitching that we have on our seats. I also have the special and I have decided to go with RDL . I am going to cover the sides in leather then the middle sections in another material that does not get hot .ill then do the back rest later at my local shop...

New RDL seat owner

I am big and tall. Day Long seats work. I sent pics, talked to Jay (seat builder 10 years ago built my old seat. They got me back and up. They used a foam that is good and stiff for my weight. They used their own backrest which is okay if room is needed I can take it out. I got a half moon black leather and titanium stitching. Only 80 miles so far still smiling. Good luck have fun.
