• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another Seat Question

Its subjective, but I love my Corbin seat. Its very roomy and does not push against my tailbone and can ride a long time.

Yeah, Rogue Hawk. I have never tried Corbin, but would not disparage them. I just can't see how Corbin, Mustang, Ultimate etc, as "stock" seats, could possibly cater for short riders, tall riders, 140lb riders and 300lb riders......someone has to lose, and it usually appears to be me. I would rather spend the extra and get a seat tailored and sprung for my 6'7", 300lb frame from Daylong rather than "take a chance" on a one size fits all seat that I will have to try to sell at a loss later.

I am still trying to work out why I bought the aftermarket Cannonball.......I guess it's because I was "hoping" it would work and save me the hassle of getting a seat sent to Daylong in the US, taking photographs, etc etc etc....or maybe it's cause I'm just DUMB ! :gaah:

Cannonball Seat

The stock seat pan is what I took to RDL. I rode up on the cannonball seat. And the cannonball seat may soon be up for sale, I don't need a second seat. I purchased the cannonball seat after riding the stock seat for a couple weeks.

As to the contours of the Cannonball seat, there is a slight rise at the front of the riders seat and the passenger seat also has a slight rise at the front. Neither my wife nor myself experienced any sliding forward on the Cannonball seat. Hope that clears things up.

Thanks so much for your feedback! That's what I was hoping to hear! If you do decide to sell your seat, I'd like a crack at it. Maybe you could PM me when the time comes??

So how does the cannonball seat compare with the stock LTD seat?

For me, the Connonball seat was a definite improvement on the stock Limited seat. I was squirming a bit after 20 minutes of the demo ride on the stock, but I got an hour out of the cannonball on the way home, and a bit of squirming gave me another 30 minutes. It feels better down low at the back than the stock.......

But don't forget, I did NOT have a backrest on the demo ride, and I did on the way home, and I believe a backrest makes a huuuuge difference to seat comfort. Also, I am not your average size rider. The sales guy, who IS average sized, has a Cannonball on his personal Spydat. Company loyalty perhaps, but he claims it lets him ride all day, while the stock seat was an hour or so.

Would I buy a Cannonball if I was starting over? No...not for me. I would have gone with the Mustang if they were available when I bought my F3 (out of stock for an unspecified time), or an Ultimate (if they made one for the F3). For some reason, bike manufacturers just don't get the importance of seats. If they made an aftermarket the equivalent of Mustang or Ultimate, at a similar price, they would probably sell a gazillion

Investigate Russell's Day Long Seat

I suggest you look at www.day-long.com and consider giving them a call. I don't currently have a Russell seat, but I have had them before and for me it was the best ever.

Thanks Pete, I appreciate the information! I am an average guy and I have a back rest, but after a couple of hours I start to squirm a bit too!

squirming

Part of the reason we squirm on the stock seat (and perhaps others, too, if truth be told) is the placement of the driver's foot pegs, way forward in the cruiser position.

I'm investing in a pair of "3rd pegs" from Lamonster so that I'll have a set of pegs directly under me on which I can stand up when my butt goes to sleep, and let the blood begin to circulate again.

YMMV

I can't agree, Pete. I have had squirming with forward controls on a stock seat on several bikes This squirming has gone away completely with a Dayling and a backrest. I have had no need to stand up using a pair of more rear set pegs.

Let me know when your cannonball seat is for sale. I'll take it off your hands please.
