• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another Helmet Question - D-Rings.....

Thanks for all of the responses to my post, guys.

I think that I'll try getting used to the D-Rings. After awhile, if I still are frustrated with them, I'll try the quick connect fasteners that some of you provided a link to.

Thanks again!

Interesting subject. All 8 of my current helmets are Nolan. They have the quick release feature. Have not had a "d" ring style closure in many years. Was not aware that "safety wise" the "d" rings are better.:bowdown:

YES
Go to Cycle Gear, they have them in stock, I think they are about $9.00

As someone just getting back into riding after many years, I hope this question isn't too dumb....:dontknow:

I see that most helmet's straps come with D-Rings while other helmet's straps come with a ratchet-type (quick-release?) device. I've found a helmet I like, but it comes with D-Rings, which I'm not particularly crazy about. Maybe I'm missing something, but I find that it's a pain to thread the strap through them every time you put on the helmet.

So, is there a way to convert a D-Ring set-up to more of an easier on/off method, whether that means a ratchet or something else?

Thanks!

When I shopped helmets I really wanted the Schuberth due to the quick connect but went with the Shoei Neotech. You MUST get the right, proper fitting helmet first and foremost. After a few times in the mirror the D-rings really are not that bad, even my wife who had trouble at first and hated them now has no issue. But personally I agree with just don't undo them, just loosen enough, slip it in front of your face and you can likely remove helmet. I can't remember last time I undid the entire d-ring. As for glasses, I'd remove them first anyway, doesn't work so good with glasses on (at least for me). The other advantage of not undoing the d-ring is I carry the helmet from the strap and its easy and secure.

Retired police sergeant and would never use a quick release. D rings all the way, because they work. I've scraped up those who have had a quick release failure. Just sayin', do what you want.
