Another Farkle Question...Extended Brake Pedal

I know, I know...It's only a $30 item. But, I was kind of worried about getting the tip of my riding boot stuck under the extended brake pedal. Any feedback from those who have used it?

I have them on both :spyder::spyder2:'s. I have a riser block under each so they do not interfere with the floorboards. We are used to the position now. Had to think about it at first.

Now, we don't even think about them.

Yup! Used it on my first two RTS, and have one sitting here in my desk for bike #3...
To me: it's a "must-have".

Does anyone have a link for one of these?

Thanks!

I bought one and cut it down to2/3 its size with a band saw. Think I posted it here some where. With it cut down version its just right for me , doesn't get in the way of foot placement and is a larger pedal then original.

I have installed one on our RTL and even though I feel a little cramped on it, I have yet to hook my right boot on or under it. It has helped quite a bit and I don't have to hunt for it like I had to with the smaller pad. Mad Mac:D

No problem....

20160125_091712.jpg made two of these one for the foot brake and one for the park brake....but I suspect you are referring to the spyders that have added floor boards ...Mine is an RS with pegs...oops.....

I have tried both the Refined Cycle extended (BPE2) and the full size brake pedal and have gone back to the stock one.

The larger brake pedal extends across the floor board and takes up foot room for me. I find I am always bumping into it and have to ride with my foot behind it. And I was afraid if I had to smash the brake the floor board would stop me from doing so.

The extended pedal, BPE2, allows you to use your rubber pad. I had a couple of problems with this. The pedal is very close to the tupper ware so you can only get your toe on the pedal. I have the NBV highway pegs and with my feet on the pegs my heel would touch the pedal and turn off the cruise.

I also tried the combination of using the extended pedal with the larger rubber pad. This looks really good but was too heavy. I would have to put on a stiffer spring to hold the pedal up.

Others are probably using one or the other and works for them but this is what I found. Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's what I thought from the pic of the larger brake pedal. I like to ride with my feet near the front of the floorboards, so that would be a problem. Thanks for the feedback!

Something similar

I installed something very similar but I mounted it in a way that it lowered the extension so I didn't have to pick my foot up so much to press the pedal. I like this because I can use the toe of my shoe to press the brake vs. I had to pick up my foot or role my ankle to use the standard pedal. With the standard pedal my foot got very tired from a day's ride.

I don't have floor boards. I have used both of these pedals and also gone back to the original one with no problems.

Have you tested that setup to make sure that the pedal does not hit the floor board before it can trigger the floorboard release. If the floorboard does not drop down. You will not have full braking performance in an emergency.

Yes, appears to work fine

Good question and I've tested it a couple of times intentionally and via a surprise stop a few times as well. There appears to be no issue.

Whoa, dude! Just coming from two wheels and using my toe for braking, this is just what I need! The most awkward thing for me has been lifting my leg to apply the brakes, I am long legged. This looks like it would be perfect for me. It lists RT-S, but I don't believe there is any difference between that and the Limited as far as floorboards go.

It looks like with the pedal position that the floorboard break away would, 1. Not be hindered, and 2. May not be necessary to apply full braking. Experiences from those that have one?

A related question - Instead of (or perhaps in addition to) swapping out brake pedals, is it possible to adjust the angle of the brake pedal? I find that I need to left my foot to go from my stock foot peg to the brake pedal. If the pedal's starting and ending points could be adjusted just a tad lower (perhaps even only 1/4 inch), that would make things easier and more comfortable for me.

Can this be done on an F3-T?

Thanks!
