• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another dealer story...

I installed an aftermarket fuel gauge and temp gauge last year. The fuel gauge was wacky because apparently the OEM dash gauge sends some sort of signal to the fuel sender. I fixed that problem but then the OEM gauge thought I was out of gas and set the amber low fuel light. I worked out the resistance needed to make the OEM unit think there was 3/4 of a tank of fuel (all the time) and everything was fine. It's been working well since midsummer last year. I used downtime this winter to install the air rear suspension system. As y'all know, the bike had to go to the dealer so the BUDS computer could tell the bike about the new stuff and set the limits. Annoying, but OK.... I waited for 2 hrs. at the shop and apparently everything I installed worked properly. I rode home and on the way I noticed the low fuel light on again and the fuel and temp bars were gone.

Anybody got a guess what the dealer did to mess up my system? Can BUDS be told to turn off the fuel and temp bars? Perhaps the dealer did that without saying anything. I have a shop manual but it has nothing about BUDS. The REALLY annoying part is that I did not ask for any changes to be made in those systems and I was sitting there the whole time if the dealer wanted to ask me. He never said anything about it. He did volunteer that he performed a factory software update of some sort, but as per usual, I got almost no info.

While the fuel and temp bars are gone, (actually that's good) there are still labels saying "Fuel" or something similar where the bars used to be. Is that what shows when two external OEM gauges are on line? At this point, I just want the Low Fuel light to go off. I suppose the crude method would be to take the thing apart and snip the LED. That'll probably make the headlight stop working.

BTW: I also put in some "Ride-on" and I like it. Dealer doesn't. He says the CHP tried it for one day and took it out. The explanation made no sense. I'm leaving it in.

From a previous post,

"Well I had the factory software update done today and being the second Spyder to have this done at my dealer and the first Spyder with aftermarket gauges (volt and oil pressure) the factory software update deleted the fuel reading on the center fuel gauge. The tech. called BRP and was told there was a glitch in the software with this type of gauge package. The revised version of BUDS R3.3.2 was released. The glitch was resolved."

Maybe this is the same thing that happened to yours?

.
I'd have to guess that BUDS just reset everything to where it should be, and that undid the magic that you had performed with the resistance...

Sure sounds possible. I will call the dealer on Tues. Lordy, I miss the days when the points could be set with a business card.
