• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another 08 Spyder catches fire

Let's not jump to conclusions, folks. There are several possible reasons for these fires, and we will likely never know the cause of this one, or most of the others. If you want to remove your emissions canister, do so, but don't be lulled into ignoring other possible causes. We have seen at least two fuel filters blow off and leak fuel all over, several more that were loose, and had the potential to leak or blow off. We have also seen several early PE GS's with chafed fuel hoses where they pass the front cylinder head. These had the very real potential of failing where they were worn part way through. The other areas of concern need to be looked at, and corrected if there is a problem. A good mechanic checks this kind of stuff at each service interval.

I checked the fuel line and it has a cover over it. I did order a new fuel filter. My canister has the small candy cane vent line which they way it was could spray fuel right out of it and onto the rear exhaust manifold. I'm going to put mine back on, but with some different mods to it.

Yes, that "candy cane vent hose scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it. BRP ran it down and out on Nancy's, but other owner's have extended them to the rear, too. I'd do that ASAP if I saw I still had the short vent.

Sorry for your loss. But what has allready been pointed out in previous posts, is the fact that no one was injured. As terrible as this is, material objects may be replaced. Good luck and best wishes. Dale

Really sorry for your loss glad you and your wife are ok on the other hand how many more 08 spyders are going to burn before BRP steps up and does something to fix this problem
